What's the best show series to watch - on bedrest and bored!

A new suggestion - if you like comedy, check out 'Community' - 1st season comes out on DVD on the 21st. (DH watched it and I only caught a few, so am looking forward to it

And definitely adding a vote for Glee. I was only vaguely aware of it, but after the Emmy's we decided to try it out, and now I'm hooked.

I loved Everwood and Gilmore Girls! I consider Parenthood the heir apparent to that genre - just as intelligently written as Gilmore Girls and makes me cry/laugh just like Everwood.

Also any Aaron Sorkin - Sports Night, West Wing, Studio on Sunset Strip.

OP - I feel for you - I survived 4 months of bed rest - mostly through this forum and a few others - check out www.sidelines.org - this is a site specifically on bed rest.

I took this time to watch a number of old favorites from Netflex: the BBC miniseries Pride and Predjudice and all the other Jane Austin books made into movies, also Little Women and some of the HBO, History videos - John Adams, North and South, Band of Brothers, etc.

Good luck!

I second Firefly (and the full length movie Serenity to go with it).

The BBC version of Pride and Prejudice was great too (Colin Firth is yummy as Mr. Darcy). 0

The Starz miniseries of Pillars of the Earth has been really good so far too (only halfway through myself).

IMDB and TVguide also have free full length TV episodes... if you poke around you might find something else you like!

Bones
CSI NY
CSI Miami

They're crime type "dramas", but not as disturbing as Law & Order SVU or Criminal Minds (i.e. not as many sex crimes or crimes against children, which I find particuarly disturbing).

Ugly Betty is a cute series that ended recently. I'm also a huge fan of Glee. My baby loved Glee in utero -- she'd kick and twirl to the songs. Our favorite episode was the Beyonce episode. Project Runway, Amazing Race, and America's Next Top Model are "good" reality shows if you want mostly mindless.

and hulu.com actually works pretty well -- I'd recommend it if you can't wait to Netflix things.

For many, many things, including TV series, on Netflix they are available instantly - no need to wait for the disk. Just an FYI.

Oh, and I recommend News Radio if you're looking for silly comedy types. Love that Jimmy James even more now that I'm older.

Mad Men. The show is so good, plus Jon Hamm is great eye candy.
