My kid was accepted to HYP and several other parents at school have been jerks. They were openly rude to my face and implied that my kid did not deserve the admission. I did not initiate the conversations as I had told no one. The parents came up to me as they knew about it through social media, etc.
This whole thing has been really sobering. I thought these people were my "friends." Not in DC. It's like a war for these college spots. |
| After my son made his commitment post, his LinkedIn is getting around 100 views per day, and we're getting 30-40 likes daily. It feels like people are stalking us |
This happened to mind last year, he wanted to be private and not share info. It doesn’t go over well. People were stalking his linked-in incessantly. |
| Someone went last year, but I don't think anyone applied to Harvard this year. It's never been popular for some reason. |
Why does your high school kid have a Linked In? Maybe if he didn't you wouldn't worry about this. |
| Lots of HS senior has LinkedIn because they work outside |
| Linked-in is phenomenal to have as a high school student? Mine was networking and setting up shadowing the second he committed. The alumni have been wonderful. It’s a great tool to be utilized. |
But PP is upset that people are looking at it. So, easy "solution" to that "stalking problem" -- don't have it. |
| Only one. An athlete whose father can also write a really big check. |
| DS was accepted- we’ve told people but he isn’t announcing and hasn’t committed. |
| My dad went to grad school at Harvard. |
Do you mind sharing stats/ec? |
what were your dad's stats? |
Our high school requires it. |
+1 thought the same, so strange. |
