How dare you. That's like saying GMU and Mary Washington are "spin outs" from UVA. They are universities in their own right. |
DP. I also know of a few kids who went to CNU from a top NoVA private. They all were students who wanted a smaller school. It was a good fit for them. One got an accounting degree and was recruited from CNU by a Big-3 firm where he now works. Another got an engineering degree and got a well paid position at a FAANG. |
I'm from the area, these universities are not particularly liberal or conservative, student body is mixed, like most Virginia universities. CNU is smaller and ODU is larger and more urban. Six of one half dozen or another. |
You're the same poster lying again. |
DP. Get a grip. It’s factual information, not a diss. ODU: “ Old Dominion University is a public research university in Norfolk, Virginia, United States. Established in 1930 as the two-year Norfolk Division of the College of William & Mary…” CNU: “ Christopher Newport University is a public university in Newport News, Virginia, United States. It was founded in 1960 as Christopher Newport College, an extension school of the College of William and Mary…” |
And so were GMU and Mary Washington. But all are universities in their own right. |
No one said they weren’t. The thread is about CNU and ODU, not GMU and MW. There are many, many schools that started out as branches of other larger universities. PP was just giving factual background about each of the schools being discussed in this thread, and you seem to have taken great offense. But ok. |
UCLA was the Los Angeles branch of Berkeley. It did just fine. |
Right? No idea why pp went all “How dare you??” over that kind of thing. |
Because it's highly insulting. |
You are insulted that some schools started as branches of other schools before splitting away? I mean, absolutely your right to get upset over whatever you want to, but the facts of a school’s founding decades ago seems an odd hill to die on. |
| No one cares about how any VA schools were founded except for UVA and WM which are each respectively obsessed with how their schools were founded. |
Nope. And the moderator could verify this because IP addresses are logged. |
