If a situation feels strange in any way: 1. Acknowledge the feeling 2. Act on it accordingly. 3. Move on with your life. You are spending too much time in a useless 1.5 limbo over-analyzing your feelings which were valid.

OP here. I am obviously not saying that people with a pink streak in their hair or tattoos DESERVE to be targeted, but based upon what I have read on the internet, it is one of the more typical characteristics of people targeted.

And I wish I was having a good booty day, but I am pretty sure that was not the case!

OP, where was your purse, and was it closed? I live in a southern college town where women still leave their purses in their shopping carts and there have been a number of instances lately where a team of folks distract and then steal. Though it don't know why they would follow you so long at first unless maybe they were still new at it?

In any event, if I was ever pretty sure that someone was following me I would go to customer service and tell a manager. Maybe it's security, maybe it's a thief, maybe it's nothing, but I would let them know.

Who is it annoying to exactly, the thought police? She is allowed to feel bothered in her head. She's done absolutely nothing to the employees. But she should just walk away from these people. If a store enforces theft and shoplifting, there is a way to do it without making customers feel uncomfortable as they are after all, being store customers and should enjoy their experience. If people don't feel comfortable in a store, they won't want to shop there.
