Why are attitudes suddenly changing about Vance?

The hatred was always fake. Vance is in the club, along with his wife. Both Yale Law alums, wife is connected to the Gates Foundation, Vance with AEI (I think? or another adjacent neocon globalist think tank), Vance closely tied to NY Times, Netflix, and CNN.

What a coincidence all the political power comes from the same tiny handful of secret society schools. Trump Penn, Vances Yale Law, Obamas Harvard Law... W and Cheney Yale (plus Harvard MBA for W)... Clintons Yale Law... H.W. Yale...

Going further, these creeps astroturfed into the public domain... mayor Pete, Harvard... Vivek Harvard and Yale Law... Anderson Cooper Yale... and same for all the dweeb podcasters and "thought leaders" being botted to the top of the charts and trending lists.

Vance may be the guy in 2028. His fortune will depend on how well Trump 47 does, and that's an open question.

Yep. People got the impression of Vance as “creepy” because that was the party line pushed by left wing activists (inc. those employed in media). Once moderate people had a chance to hear him talk directly (e.g., on Rogan) they got a different impression. And yeah everyone likes a winner.

There has been a preference cascade as fewer and fewer people trust (or even listen to) legacy media. The lack of trust is ultimately caused by a culture of media “spin.” It’s been angle first, truth second for too long.

How to regain the trust of the center once it’s lost? I dunno. Not my problem.

Very good comments. The center is growing and the whack jobs on the fringes are less relevant. The issue dems have is their fringe has enjoyed a loud pulpit for a long time. People are waking up. But like you say, not our problem. Can't believe I'm saying this but they might actually want to start listening to someone like Fetterman.

Fetterman would be the obvious choice, but looks like he has had a drastic decline in the last few yrs.

Check out his you tube with Theo Von. You may not like his politics, but he communicates in a way that is down to earth while still sounding intelligent and knowledgeable about topics.

The most liked comment on the Vance-Theo Von podcast is something like “this is the most normal sounding political guy ever. Dems say he is weird?”

Obviously his message is better received by Vons young male audience than OP who is most likely an UMC / coastal elite middle-aged woman.

But it illustrates the fact that people think the mainstream news is lying to them. Vance is very clearly intelligent and an excellent communicator, even if you hate his political positions.

He's also not condescending, so to PP's comments about him losing his upbringing, I believe this is a trait that illustrates he has not.

I’m sure bots bought his best selling book and signed the Netflix deal for his movie and got Ron Howard to direct it, huh?

If you can’t figure out why a Trump co-signed, 40 something, Yale graduate with a hard scrabble upbringing from Appalachia and Ohio has a good chance to win in Rust Belt swing states and Georgia you don’t know anything about politics.

None of the Dems you mentioned could parry so well in a long form contentious interview like this. On top of that, he is less contrived and fake than Buttigieg and Shapiro, and has a much more compelling life story.

The call is out to start bashing him now. I'm sure we'll get non-stop stories about how he once killed an innocent squirrel with a bb gun when he was 10 or once failed to open a door for an old lady when he was at Ohio State. The playbook is getting old. What they fail to see is this Trump/Vance pulled the middle together and pushed the fringes on both sides further out.

Dems had a better chance in national politics in the pre-podcast / YouTube age where people couldn’t view primary sources themselves and had to rely almost exclusively on the mainstream media to summarize events for them.

Now, voters don’t need the NYTimes or the WaPo to tell them what Vance said in an interview or speech, they can view the entire speech themselves. And it’s hard to paint Vance as a “weird” guy who rants exclusively about childless cat ladies when there’s videos like this out here.

I have been following politics for 30 years. There hasn’t been a Republican candidate for national office with this type of natural appeal to working class / blue collar voters like this.

When you add on his appeal to young people because of his age and his appeal to POCs because he has biracial kids, he is going to be hard to beat. Especially if he pics a woman for VP.

Please use the more inclusive term “BIPOCS.”

Yup, evil GOP playing the long game, allowing the end to justify the means.

The dems lose the election by a pretty wide margin, indicating that in fact very many people are in favor of candidates like Vance, yet you still blame bots. Get your heads out of the sand.

But once he lost the courage in his convictions, he lost me. But I don’t hate him. When you compare him to other young Republicans, ie Gaetz, I’ll take Vance.

This. Which Vance is the real Vance, the one who wrote his book or the one today? Who knows? I don't.

People can add to their foundational upbringing without losing who they are. This should not have to be explained to a rational adult.
