Great info, thanks. Why did your DC choose UVA? |
What about UMD's demographics did you not like? |
and Hebrews |
And vice-versa. |
Oh, boy. The crazy UMD booster is back. Their rankings are pretty much identical, though since it seems to matter to YOU, VT is ranked higher for engineering. -DP

DP. Ugh, this sounds exactly the opposite of my kids, both of whom hate urban settings and sought out rural schools near the mountains. |
And vice-versa. |
But College Park - now *there's* an exciting, cosmopolitan city!

DP. I agree there's a lot to do at VT and in Blacksburg, but the Greek scene is only about 19% of students - not huge, by any means. That just means there are parties available if you're interested, but plenty of other things to do as well. My VT student loves it there. |
Academics are not 'much better'. What are you even talking about? |
Can't compare the 2. Very different environments. One is more rural and the other one is a DC area suburb. Obviously there will be pros and cons with each. |

Not quite sure this is the "gotcha" you intended. |
Said no one ever so get over yourself. The point was that outside of football and parties, that's pretty much it at VT. Yes, VT is fun but you're confined to the specific area. It is no doubt beautiful being near the mountains. College Park is different since one can venture out of the area and go to DC or Baltimore easily. It's whatever the kid prefers. My kid prefers being able to leave campus and go out to a nearby city so UMD it is. |
LOL.. well if that 3 point difference in Engineering ranking means VT is higher, then that means that UMD is much higher than VTech since overall ranking has UMD as #44 and Vtech as 51. |
