The media

The fact that you only address left wing sources does not help your point at all, when you know fully well that there are issues at Fox that are just as problematic.

PP. I just want to say that I agree 100%. Fox News, Tucker Carlson, and the Limbaugh's of the world are really entertainers who put money over nation. I should have mentioned that. To be frank, I guess I didn't because I l am moderately conservative (just owning it).

My points stand though but they apply to both sides.

The media that insisted Trump was hit by a piece of broken teleprompter that had nothing to do with bullets flying by? The media that stirred crazies up and got them shooting at Trump?

That media?

They’ve sacrificed every last shred of their credibility. They’re a laughingstock.

I would add that the media’s unhinged insanity helped elect Trump. They have NO credibility and America knows it.

If you mean by pushing a candidate no one actually wanted in the first place, then sure. That alone turned off millions of voters.

If you haven’t been paying attention, “The media” has become a part of the anti-Trump Resistance!. It’s why so many people were angry by the Post not endorsing.

The day after the election, the Post had a headline that said “First Felon Elected President” and the New York Times had a headline that read, “American Elects a Strongman”. It is sad and petulant acting out.

Whether you like Trump or hate him, this was a historic election. Only the second time that a President will serve non-consecutive terms. Instead of reflecting on this, they were taking cheap shots.

The fact that so many Democrats were outraged when the WaPo declined to endorse Harris is so telling. Papers that actually have credibility don’t endorse anyone.

Oh, dear. Keep up that hyperbole and high drama. It’s really working for you.

Ignorance is bliss, I guess. I have a degree in political science and I’ve read more than enough political history to understand how this goes down.

This mindset is one of the reasons Trump got elected again and why there will be no course correction in the media (what's left of it) or on the left. The credentialed class viewing everyone else as dumb af and everyone else being like you know what pound sand.

It’s obvious that the media has no more power as they did in the past. But also, you can only cry wolf so many times before normal people tune you out. That’s what clearly happened in this election. Cable news is no longer news, it’s sensational clickbait designed to just get views and clicks.

Well said. I actually thought Harris would win in a landslide - why? Because the media (and this forum) insisted it was so. They did an entire 180 on her after Biden was forced out. The WSJ is the only source I can recall that didn’t fawn over her and treat her like the next coming. Most of the media was absolutely pushing Kamala Harris on the rest of us.

Every person who predicts races and has usually predicted correctly, predicted Harris would win. Something is rotten.

A lot of those predictions were based on old school polling. Trump's campaign listened to people calling into talk shows, read comment sections of myriad newspapers, read social media and learned what actual people were thinking not "samples" of people.

WaPo reporters will never be credentialed for the WH or any other government agency. Trump probably love the NYT headline because it is true.

So much of this thread is referencing commentary/opinion, which explains a lot.

If I were a mainstream media journalist in 2024, I would be highly embarrassed to admit it publicly.

The “media” has no credibility.

Always with the victimhood. PP insulted my take. She did not ask “what makes you think that?” And if I had explained in depth, you’d accuse me of feeling superior and lecturing her when she didn’t ask for my opinion. Maybe the problem is that so many people have a chip on their shoulder or refuse to believe they have anything to learn. Fox keeps telling them how smart they are and they eat it up. Zero curiosity or self- awareness.

The fact that the media did not do its job and push Biden into press conferences led directly to him being able to run again.

What are you planning then? Genuinely asking, not being snarky.

You're talking about them taking "cheap shots?" How about that that that felon? His win is inspiring only for other felons.
