Violet passed away.

Vanessa Redgrave, Judi Dench, Helen Mirren and the great Maggie Smith - what is it about English actresses? where the US has movie stars seems like the English have actresses.

This is some weird gatekeeping with people digging up roles from decades ago with which most people are unfamiliar.

I never understood the appeal of Vanessa Redgrave. She just plays the same role every time and is insufferable. She's like nails on a chalkboard to me.

The other three are fabulous. The UK tends to value the acting. The US used to value acting more, but recently seems to value looks and "celebrity" more.

People are *sharing* some of her earlier work. It’s the opposite of gatekeeping.

She is one of the rare people who will have little to nothing bad said about them.

She was a gem.

I literally watched this movie with my daughter 2 weeks ago. It’s on amazon prime. A gorgeous Diana Rigg plays the cruel murder victim!

PP. The movie is on Amazon Prime and I watched it this summer. It was also mentioned in yesterday's NYT article linked earlier about Maggie Smith performances to watch. You get shaky at a visual from the 1900s? We'll stick to Harry Potter and Downton Abbey so you don't feel left out. Talk about weird gatekeeping.

This one crushes my sole. I loved her so much, as an actress and human.
Harry Potter and Downton alone are 2 of my faves ever.

I don't think that is the meaning of "gate keeping"...

Thanks PP, I had no idea that was her, since I came to know her through Professor McGonagall.

Getting up and sitting down is hard, remembering things people tell you is hard, preparing food and eating and digesting is hard, showering is hard, getting up from the toilet is hard, staying awake is hard, sleeping all night is hard, etc. I think of death for an old person as a release. She had a long life, hopefully a nice one she was happy with, and now she's done. It'd be sad or tragic if she were like Natasha Richardson, who died in her prime, with young kids, suddenly and accidentally.

Old people are not worthless.

Read the elder care board. You and I are in the minority in this sentiment. People don’t even want to help care for their own parents.

I really didn’t know who she was until the HP movies so it’s been fun for me to see that actually I sort of grew up watching her in different roles without knowing who she was! One of the many talented theater actors who supported themselves with small character roles in movie and TV over the years.
