I grew up in Florida lot of deaths also occur after the hurricane as well. Unstable conditions, people hurt trying to remove fallen trees, people running generators incorrectly. |
Unfortunately, I don’t believe it’s going to stay that low. Entire towns have been wiped out. They haven’t even been able to get to those people/their homes yet. |
Is that enough, OP? |
Let’s not forget that Trump and Project 2025 want to defund and break up the National Weather Service, including hurricane warnings and alerts. So if you want to have to pay to find out if a hurricane is coming to your area, vote for Trump. |
NYT reporting more than 60 now. Western NC needs our help. Many people are trapped in outlying areas of Asheville. |
Why did Tennessee Governor Lee wait so long to declare an emergency? |
Death toll is over 90 now. |
You think the water has to rain directly into your lungs, or the wind has to directly crush your heart, for it to count as a hurricane death? |
St Petersburg Times reported death toll up to 11 now in Tampa Bay area. All the dead were found in the mandatory evacuation zone.
One Tampa man died when a highway sign fell on his van. A woman died with water and an electrical problem in the house. The rest mostly elderly drowned in their homes. Very sad. |

I have family in the immediate area. The entire response including preparation before the storm has been bungled. I don't believe the mayor can even be bothered to get on the twice daily status briefings. If you like bungled disaster responses, vote Democrat. |
Strange I don’t remember a Democratic president when Hurricane Katrina blew through |
10 dead and 1000 unaccounted for in 1 county in NC.

What preparation are you expecting? They announced a clear evacuation zone days ahead of time, the storm followed pretty closely to predictions. What exactly will a MAYOR do in a Florida town? |
