Yeah it's not really for "quality" reasons if you actually enjoy fashion. Some of us pay for designs, because you cannot find a similar thing for cheaper. Some of us pay even more to have a piece of history. I like collecting, and it's fine if you don't, but men get to have irrational hobbies too and nobody says anything. |

10k for clothing would last me more than 10 years, probably 15. I don't care about trends, I buy classics that are well made and last forever. I recently replaced an REI raincoat that I'd had for 20+ years!

| It would likely last me a lifetime. I mostly buy 2nd hand. |
Maybe we want stuff but we just can't afford it 😅 it's all good |
No you're totalyl right - I put that very wrong! I mean if you have the ability to spend more but don't. Sorry, my brain is mush today and I said this in a stupid way. |
Hey rich person, don't tell me how to spend my own money. I only make $350k and yes that's what I spend. |
|
that would last me about a year, in the midwest.
Putting cute outfits together is one of my only hobbies. I'm more quantity than quality and like to be trendy. It's funny though, when I get home from work I put on the same shorts and cut off tshirts (I have 5 of each) that I've worn for at least 10 years. |
I find that there are years when I spend more than that, usually a year when I’ve gained or lost weight or switched jobs, and there are years where I buy almost nothing. |

I agree with this for bags, but I do think if you spend $1500 or $2000 on a coat vs $600 you can get a much nicer coat. I probably wouldn’t go to $5k unless I really loved it and didn’t want to look for a less expensively branded version. And that would be valid, imo. Sometimes you just want to get the thing you have in hand that solves the problem and accept that it’s not a great value. |
No problem. I mean I can afford it and have no desire to spend $100 every week (on average of course). But this thread is pretty interesting. |
