Rookie move. As soon as you do that, mcps will announce they aren't using them anymore and then there will be a fee to get your money back |
Yes, or a check of any other amount. |

I too am annoyed by the costs of all of these apps and fees. Schools need to stop with these 3rd party apps that fleece us all.
But I guess this is the benefit of a title 1 school- free lunch! |
I mentioned in last week’s post that our school is not giving that option to send in check. We are told specifically to pay online. |
Maybe they'd rather not deal with checks, but they have to accept them. https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/food-and-nutrition/meal-payments/ |
Exactly. Send your kid in with the check. Or, if they won't take it, just let the cost of the meals pile up until they ask for a check. (They will send you a statement once you owe enough money - maybe $10.) |
The fees are excessive. Totally agree. |
This is what I decided to do because it tried to charge me a fee for ES kids account and a fee for MS kids account. |
I work at a lower income school. Nearly all students who eat school lunch bring cash to the cafeteria staff. 10$ -20$ at a time. It lasts long because most have reduced-price meals.
Personally I don't know any kids at our school who pay online for anything. |
Don't those who qualify for reduced-price meals in MCPS pay nothing? |
Some / most of the lower income kids' parents in our school do not have a bank account. That want / need to stay under the radar; these families live by cash alone. |
Yes, as does anyone who attends a truly low income school (community eligibility). |
I just checked my kid’s account for the first time and she’s bought several meals since I loaded $30, but they all show up as *cash and no charge to the account. I’m befuddled. Any ideas? |
OP here - haha just got a settlement notice for a class action lawsuit. Maybe I'll get ten or twenty bucks back. May the odds be ever in your favor!
