Lanvin has been making some good bags lately. I really like the Melodie hobo one.

I still use my Chloe paraty bag but I’m pretty sure it’s not cool, oh well.

This and also adding Le Tanneurs and Sezane. Paris has fabulous flea markets and second hand stores, so I'd check those too.

Yes and no, while they are not publicly traded it isn't like one small family owns everything. The extended family are the majority owners, but they have plenty of outside investors and shareholders.

Social media has ruined Hermes for me. I’m a horse person and I coveted the saddles in the 90’s when they were the thing. But I don’t want to be associated with women on Instagram buying dishes so they can buy a kelly bag or whatever they are doing.

They still make beautiful saddles and other horse things and I think they mark them up but not as much, to make it more appealing? I just don’t like anything about the branding/marketing/pricing strategy. There are lots of places to buy nice leather goods.

The other major thing that happened I think is that in my lifetime, synthetic materials have gotten much better. I doubt any Olympic riders in Paris were wearing leather gloves.
