Part of the problem is that teachers are treated like dogs in mcps

Afford? I would get a pay raise if I left MCPS for a private school. MCPS caps the entry step for new employees with a Master’s. 20 years of experience = a higher salary in a private school than MCPS.

Then that’s an easy choice. For others who have had their whole careers in MCPS, it would be a substantial pay cut.

The cut-off date to move within MCPS is noon on July 22 (it is officially July 20th, but that is a Saturday).

You can ask to be let out of your contract. I think that they will be pretty lax on this, given the high number of involuntary transfers so late in the year.

Who do I ask? HR? My principal?

Mcps is an unhealthy place to be as it has no support of teachers and actively blames them instead of hurting the feelings if some really deranged students.

It takes alot of courage to say that the way teachers are treated these days is not right
Its best just to walk away from a toxic profession. The stress is very unhealthy.

You can resign at any time past July 15 or not. Doesn’t matter. State of Md may take your license but if you’re getting out of teaching it wouldn’t matter
