| What happens if I resign from MCPS after July 15? I’m staying in the education field, just trying to go private. |
| You won't get a job again in MCPS. |
| It will likely be a problem in any public school, at least in Maryland. And may come up in reference checks for future jobs. |
Correct that it will be tough to get a job in MCPS if you wanted it in the future. A friend called to resign and they hung up on her.
But, that said, I've had to switch districts/states in mid to late summer twice due to moving for my husband's job, and there was no impact. Just don't burn all your bridges because you'll need a reference. |
You resign with prejudice if you stay locally and want to go to any other public school. Moves out of area are exempt from this. If the OP is sure she/he isn't going to return to public education, there is no issue. |
| For the foreseeable future public schools in MD will be desperate enough to hire people who would normally be blackballed over this. But it won’t hurt to white lie that you are attending to a family matter. |
| You get blacklisted by MCPS. In the past the state used to fine you and go after your certificate but times have changed |
| Yes, it will be difficult to go back to mcps. I have a friend who did this. She tried to come back a few years later and was told she needed a letter from the principal whom she resigned under. |
Same! My friend couldn't get a job with MCPS after she tried to move back after her divorce. She ended up moving to another state and is doing great as a teacher there. This was pre pandemic so I don't know if things are different now.
|
Things have changed. They need certified teachers too badly. |
Depends on the subject. |
A former MVA teacher still hoping to find something that lets you work from home? |
No. And… give it up. You’re beyond pathetic. |
You are gross |
There's at least a couple teachers that threatened to quit, but there's no sign they went through with it. |
