my rice cooker is the single most used appliance in my house and lives on the counter. I have a tiger brand and it cooks rice perfectly and keeps it warm
for hours. I have two boys who are athletes and they eat chicke rice and broccoli daily. They know to put on the rice and 10 min into the cook they drop broccoli into the rice cooker steamer basket. I grill a ton of chicken 2xs a week. it is a very easy meal for them to prepare in their own. plus i make a lot do quinoa salads and the rice cooker makes that extremely well. Also makes perfect lentils. I like that i can set it and just leave the house. I often use the timer so if we go to practice or a game the grains are ready for when we get home. |
i still do this in my rice cooker on the sautee setting. It’s great because you don’t dirty more than one pan. I very often sautee garlic and shallots and then brown the rice right in the cooker before i set it to quick cook. |

most rice cookers have a sautee setting. I’ve even made Briyani in my rice cooker. Great one pot cooker. No need to dirty pans , plus it can sit on warm for hours. |
I lived in Vietnam for 2 years while serving in the peace corps and this is indeed fact. it was rice breakfast lunch and dinner, but i’d say the pot of rice only lasted maybe 24hrs before it was empty. meal was always always tons of veggies over rice and occasionally meat and ample amount of sauces that would burn the lining of my stomach off. |
| We are Indians and we make basmati rice once or twice a day. I like steaming hot fresh rice. I either use my Futura pressure-cooker when making veg pilaf, peas pilaf or jeera rice, OR I use the microwave to make plain white rice, quinoa etc. Comes out perfectly perfect. Also, depending on if I am making rice for a few people or a big group, I can also cook on the stovetop. Rice is never problematic for me- egardless of recipe, cuisine, number of servings or variety of rice. |

You can just microwave rice. No need for the cooker.

| best discovery of my life. It doesn't even need to be fancy. I'm on my 3rd, I think. Got this medium sized Aroma from Amazon. less than 40$ for perfect rice every time. |
I mean, it takes the same time to make it on the stove. Why not make it on the stove? |

On the stove there is a risk it will boil over. Plus, my stove is gas and there is no timer that will turn it off. With the microwave, I can set the rice to cook and go for a walk. |
