All bio classes are designated as "honors," so there's no such thing as an advanced bio class (same with English - everyone's "advanced").

I think maybe there is Apex bio at one of the Ws and Global bio at Poolesville? There may be more

That Apex bio class is crushingly difficult this year so I would hope those kids got As!

B-CC parent here -- Scores were provided to students yesterday and today. DC received score today -- a "4" -- which was comfortably higher than last year's posted cutoff score. Do not know this year's cutoff score. On another note, previous poster is correct that this year there were no on-level 9th grade biology or English classes at B-CC. Both classes are designated as "honors." This is consistent with Westland that also did not have on-level science or English classes -- only advanced -- in 8th grade. DC has commented that the "all honors" 8th and 9th English and Biology classes were limited by those who were not able to go deeper into the materials.

The Westland approach is what all middle schools do -- one level for English and science.

The B-CC approach is not consistent with what high schools are doing and is not required--did B-CC provide information on why they are doing it, when other high schools are not?

Sorry, to be clear, I am talking about the B-CC approach to biology -- only allowing one level. Having only honors English is standard in most high schools, but that's not the case for science.

My kid never got it and today was the last day.

I have had three children attend B-CC -- two recent graduates ('20 and '22) and a current 9th grader. When the older two were at B-CC, there were on-level and advanced courses for both 9th grade English and Biology. I do not know the reason for the change or recall any explanation for it.

Anyone seen the grading scale posted? My child scored 756, which he said was one point from an A.

DD at Einstein said some kids got their scores, but her teacher didn’t hand them out. I guess we’ll find out eventually.

Must have a different teacher. My kids teacher at WJ told them she had the scores but would not give them to them!

Einstein parent above. The inconsistency, even within the same school, is the frustrating part.

Blair parent here, and my child got their score verbally yesterday.

Also, +1 to the PP who talked about "Honors" Biology being a joke. By 9th grade, I wish MCPS would accept that some kids just aren't that interested, and let the students opt into a true honors course, or not.

DS had Covid the day of MISA in 9th grade and ended up taking it this year as a 10th grader. I wonder if and how we will see his scores. It won’t be in the final grade like class of 27 but it is a grad requirement

My DS’ score is in canvas. Listed as score #/0. It’s not in synergy.
