I wonder what neighborhood this was (Alito's wife chasing and spitting on a neighbor's car)?

I thought we already covered this with Bill and Hillary.

Bill’s bad behavior took place behind closed doors. The Alitos proudly display their bad behavior in front of their houses for all to see. Bill didn’t support insurrections and the Alitos do. It’s a little different.

Hillary Clinton publicly smeared women who later proved to have had sexual interactions with Bill Clinton.

I don’t want to derail any of this, but I notice a huge double standard and it seems that the liberal position now is that husbands and wives represent one person. Not two independent people. I am not an expert but this seems like a step backwards for women’s rights.

There's a difference between a woman scorned and someone who is deciding whether we can maintain our democracy.

Here's a very serious distinction between Clinton and Alito/Thomas - there exists a mechanism to check or remove the President. If his behavior is deemed unacceptable he can be impeached and even removed from office. The Supreme Court exists entirely on a gentlemen's code and when it is flaunted people are much more upset because we are legitimately just stuck with justices who are not even pretending to be impartial anymore. They're supposed to recuse *themselves*. They're supposed to police their own behavior, and they are looking right in our faces and saying "what are you going to do about it?"

Bill Clinton's behavior was disgusting. Hillary smearing Monica was disgusting. And Bill was impeached over it! Thomas and Alito are behaving in a manner antithetical to their oaths of office and . . . we get nothing but whataboutism. No consequences whatsoever.

Also, there are...elections to vote out people if you have questions. Supreme Court is a lifetime appointment

It’s possible she was just really mad but I think it’s more likely this is a cognitive situation. Lots of people become very hostile in the early stages and even though I really don’t like Alito and oppose his rulings, I can appreciate how having protests in front of your house could make a bad situation like that much worse and harder.

I agree that Mrs Alito appears to have dementia, but that excuses NOTHING. Alito should have removed the flags. It’s his house too. He has to take action if his wife cannot think straight.

The truth is that he thought the flags were fine. He was so smug and entitled that he couldn’t be bothered to understand the flags had a new, disturbing meaning. Ignorance of new facts is not an excuse in a Supreme Court Justice. He should have known.

Disgraceful.

Hillary paid a price for that bullying. She was trounced at the ballot box. I don't think many of us believe Bill and Hillary are immaculate people.

But you are barking up the wrong tree, because there is no comparison here. None at all. The Alitos appear to be complicit in election denialism and insurrection. The Justices are Constitutionally mandated to avoid even the appearance of bias. They have just been shown to display extreme bias, both Alitos as well as Ginny Thomas. Alito did not remove his wife's flags. Ginny's texts proved she was heavily involved in efforts to subvert the election. If they were separated or divorced, both wives' views would be protected by the First Amendment. As the wives of Supreme Court Justices, the appearance of bias supercede their right to express political views.

Thus - both Alito and Thomas should recuse themselves from matters pertaining to Jan 6.

You keep saying the “Alito’s” but what has the Supreme Court Justice done exactly? His wife has done something. There are zero reports of his involvement in any of this.

What part of it's HIS house aren't you comprehending?

I guess we are back to the days when all marital property belongs to the husband? Is this really what you folks want to argue?

Well, it’s owned by an LLC. But the LLc is probably owned jointly by both of them. Typically liability runs to each partner in an LLC. And even if were held by jojnt tenancy like most married couples’ houses, he’d be responsible for what happens on the property. It’s not like we are talking about her t-shirt or jewelry.

Where did you read there were people protesting in front of their house?

The rolling stone article said she was unhinged over a neighbor's *lawn sign*.

Yeah but I think another story mentioned protests in front if the house? They definitely did at other justice houses, idk. Maybe they didn’t have any at the Alito house but I thought I read that somewhere.

l mean obviously she might be completely fine and just decided to yell at her neighbors and a reporter because she was mad.

But having been through the cognitive decline rodeo, a hundred people marching to the house would have really been not helpful in those early competent but hostile/paranoid days.

I still think he should recuse fwiw but I also get why he won’t and I wish people would just stay away from justice’s houses and families. I don’t think it helps anything at all.

Yeah, this is a good starting point for everything. I hope this lady is getting the help that she needs and also agree that going to peoples homes and attacking spouses of officials who are living private lives is poor form. When folks like Ginny Thomas, Clinton or whoever else engage in public life that is a different matter. I am wondering if this situation could not have been deescalated with a little empathy from the neighbors involved.

I have mixed feelings about the protests at their home. It’s difficult to protest at their workplace in a way they actually see because of the layout of the court. There’s a famous story about a justice voting on the old sodomy case in a particular way because he learned on of his clerks was gay — he had not previously known any gay people, to his knowledge, and it gave him new sympathy. It seems that there might be a way to present a real face of women who have had abortions to these justices that might be effective, if they are actually decent people. If they lived among a sea of signs saying “I support choice”, would it make a difference? I don’t know.

He should follow the example of Justice Sandra Day O'Connor and resign his seat in order to spend time caring for his ailing spouse. But I think we know what he values above all else...

Why? I don’t approve of doing this sort of on a personal level but I also don’t understand why it’s a good strategy for anything.

I'm sorry the man is literally trying to destroy the US and take away all civil rights and women's rights.

We live in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

PEACEFUL PROTEST is an actual thing you moron.

We should all be in front of his house every day all day.

The fact that POS has zero consequences to actively plot against the US of America is horrific. Yes Alito full stop was in on the planning with Ginni Thomas. He was going to do something illegal in PA during the election cycle but he knew he would be caught because Pelsoi was smart enough to call them back Jan 6th she ruined their plans.

His wife deserves no better than the way she treats others. She is an entitled POS.

It’s illegal to protest in front of a federal judge’s house. But thankfully we have a president who selectively enforces the law to the benefit of his supporters and detriment of his enemies.

Even if true, so what? She showed the Post contemporaneous texts with friends and this happened several years ago so she's not in it for publicity.

That woman and her husband are also certainly neighborhood drama queens. Their 911 call was ridiculous. She admits to calling Alito’s wife explicatives. She is intentionally vague about the order of their interactions and very likely was a mutual instigator. Does not absolve Alito’s wife, because she is nutso but there is only one side of the story being reported and it would be equally appropriate for the media to interrogate these folks a little more.

+1 We need to hear both sides of the story. It could be the case of two unhinged people going at it.
