Grad parties

A guest of honor does not bring a gift. When you throw a graduation party and invite other graduates, you are celebrating all of them, not just the kid who lives there. They are all guests of honor.

Are you ok? If I throw a grad party with my kid picking out the decor for my kid’s school, the grad party is not for every attendee who is also in the graduating class. I will:

- not expect gifts
- not think about who doesn’t being gifts
- tell other kids congrats on their graduation and college acceptance
- not consider it a celebration party of every kid who is graduating though I am still happy for all the kids- the graduation itself is for all kids equally
- bring a gift to every grad party attended by anyone on my family

I do not understand kids who don’t being a gift- simply bc their kid is also graduating. It is exactly like a bday party. Don’t make it sound like it is wrong to even think abt a gift…it is what is socially appropriate. Raise your kids as you wish, but you are in the wrong.
