McLean bleeds your kids dry. Look for a team that cares about your child and looks to develop within. Your kid is only a number at McLean nothing more. |
+1 I live behind Franklin Sherman ES (downtown McLean?) and it takes me 26 minutes to get to spring hill recreation center during rush hour. |
It’s sad that we feel similarly and that there are others with this experience. We were really excited when we first signed up. |
Can you say a bit more about McLean bleeding them dry? Overworking them? |
Overstocking their teams and limiting playtime and development of players. Your DC will be yanked at the first sign they feel compelled to do so. Even at U9-U10. |
Is this also true at U11? How many do they put on the roster for 9v9? Particularly interested for boys’ side. |
We are not great on the boys side; much better on the girls. We were trying to improve in recent years, but kept losing players to BSC, Arlington and SYC. We’re trying to reboot, but lost ECNL (never had MLSN).
But our girls side is great. We have tow or three of the best girl teams in the area. If you’re looking for a female team, McLean is great. If you have a boy, best to try to get in early on one of the more established boy teams (Alex, Arl, or BSC). |
With tryouts concluding Thurs night, should we assume all first team offers have gone out for the 2013 girls? |
Didn't that group get around 120 kids? |
Wow! That’s going to be a lot of money for MYS. Ca-Ching!!! |
One of my kids is 2013. Most girls received their offers already. Anyone who hasn't is either out or teams are waiting for others to decline the offer. |
120 kids show up for tryouts. Doesn't mean they make more teams. MYS doesn't do that because they don' have enough coaches. That's why there is a third tryout because they can't evaluate that many kids in two days. Number of teams is set along with roster size. |
To clarify, 2013 Girls Green has 15 players. White has 12 and Gold has 12. MYS doesn't overload all their teams. However, with Green being a top ranked team it's smart to have 15 players for rotation, etc. |
Really? I thought they were going to have 6 teams. Green, White, Gold, Silver, Bronze, Copper. Maybe maybe even a 7th Wood team. |
You stil have zinc, brass, aluminum too |
