At this point I’m guessing the only option is when returning from an international trip to stop in where they do the interviews upon arrival and ask for help?

No, you should be able to create login.gov accounts for each of them, using the same email address you signed them up with. It's a bit of a rigmarole, but just one time.

Mobile passport is not convenient at all airports. I would do GE as some airports have no distinct lane for MP and you will end up waiting in line with everyone else.

I just learned about this. I am traveling in a few months and thought I was out of luck. My two sisters both have GE. Hopefully I can use this at IAD.

Yes it's an option at Dulles. Just follow the signs for Mobile Passport when you get to the passport control area. Make sure you download the app now, and up to you, but you can add your info now so you can save time.when on the plane. Then all you have to just before arrival is take a selfie and answer the couple of questions.

So if the only airport we return to from abroad is IAD, does that mean GE wouldn’t give us much benefit over Mobile Passport? Does GE help with anything else?

As stated above, you also get PreCheck, which helps a ton with all domestic security lines.

And if you ever cross at a land or sea border (only towards the US), GE usually has separate lines. Last year we saved over an hour in the car driving back from Vancouver to Seattle- they have estimated wait times on the signs right before the border.

Ok thanks. We already have pre check so that is not an added benefit for us. And we don’t drive across borders.

Yes probably not worth doing GE then for you. Maybe when your PreCheck renewal is coming up, you could do GE then. We get the fee covered by our credit card, so the extra cost is worth it.

Which credit card?

Chase sapphire reserve covers it. I think venture x does too, but not certain.

This is an easy google— it’s generally expensive cards but the bonuses can make them worthwhile. Chase Sapphire, Venture X. There was a United card (explorer?) that I think was the cheapest to offer it.

Yeah, I tried Mobile Passport at Dulles but there didn’t seem to be a separate place or way to use it. This was years ago so maybe I was confused/jetlagged/lost.

It's a pretty big number of cards that offer it- but yes generally "premium" cards, understandably. It's meant to be a perk to capture attention of richer people who travel outside the US often, thus more likely to be interested in GE.

There is a separate line/area of the main customs arrivals part- it's to the right in the same direction as the Global Entry area. There are signs.

Let’s talk about the actual value - is global entry worth it for families of five? How machine has it saved you?

Well it's only $42 more than Precheck, and includes Precheck, so yes it has been hugely beneficial if you add both benefits- saving time at TSA for all departures, and saving time at CBP when coming back into the US.

Couple of examples: was stuck in much worse than expected traffic getting to Miami Airport to get home after a work trip, regular security line was a mile long, got through in 5 minutes with Precheck, surely would have missed the flight without it.

Drove across US-Canada border, was able to use the separate lane (only for entry to the US, not for entry to Canada, you need Nexus to use it in both directions), the sign above the highway said it was a 75 minute wait in the regular line, took us 5 minutes.

Connected in Atlanta coming back from Mexico, flight was over 1.5 hours on departure, we got through passport control in Atlanta super fast, got to the gate for connecting flight 2 minutes before they closed the door.

Do you remember the email addresses that you set up their accounts with? If so, you can just do a password reset and it should work.

Thank you to the OP of this thread - you saved me $200 in renewal fees for my kids.

More and more people have it now, so I think the value of the shorter security lines is somewhat less than before, but the value of getting through customs at Dulles in 10 minutes instead of 90-120 minutes is definitely worth it to me if you travel out of the country at least once per year.

No it's good for 5 years- actually a bit more since it expires on the 6th birthday after approval.
