Ok thanks. We already have pre check so that is not an added benefit for us. And we don’t drive across borders. |
| Stop talking about Mobile Passport - I don't want people to find out about it and start clogging up the lines! Seriously - its great and free. We used it at BWI coming back from spring break in Mexico and walked right through. Coming back from Europe to Dulles in late June we had to wait about 10 minutes. I would guess the regular line was at least an hour and the GE people walked right through. The app was a little funny and kept crashing when we were at Dulles but I just kept trying and it worked while we were on the people mover. |
Yes probably not worth doing GE then for you. Maybe when your PreCheck renewal is coming up, you could do GE then. We get the fee covered by our credit card, so the extra cost is worth it. |
Have t start over, but, weirdly, the reverse I’d it true. You get precheck automatically with GE. |
| Just renewed for $100 a few months back and waiting to add my kid for free! (He currently has his own but I haven’t renewed his) |
Or actually $0 since it was on a credit card |
| My wife and I are conditionally approve, will the fee be waived for our 2 kids if we apply for them after October 1st? |
We did this at Heathrow but did not have global entry. Does it depend on the airport? |
There is no US immigration at Heathrow, thus no Global Entry. |
Ah! Global Entry only applies in returning to the U.S.? |
Yes, as it's a US government program. What the PP experienced at Heathrow is the e-gates, which are an excellent system the UK uses for people arriving from lower risk countries. |
As it is now October, this new structure is now in effect. The fee for adults is now $120, and you can add your kids for free (under 18). |
So you don’t need Global Entry to use Mobile Passport? We are traveling to Europe this summer and will return to IAD. We do not have Global Entry. |
Correct- Mobile Passport is a totally separate, free app any US citizen can download and use. The limitation is that there aren't MPC kiosks at every US airport with incoming international flights- but there are MPC kiosks at the biggest ones like Dulles. It's a great option for people who don't want to go through the GE hoops, or for whom its not worth the cost because they might go overseas once in 5 years. |
| My kids are up for renewal this year but the log in / site changed since we set up their accounts 5 years ago. They have known traveler numbers but I can’t get them logged into the new system. At this point I’m guessing the only option is when returning from an international trip to stop in where they do the interviews upon arrival and ask for help? |
