Huh? Lifelong Marylander here and I have no clue what the word is, even after reading the daily mail link.

Sorry very common racial slur often used by people in Trone’s age and socio economic bracket. Typically used by wealthy white racists who pretend to care about the common persons of all races and genders.

And so did he. He's just trying to get around saying it but like all closet racist he thinks if he says he's sorry everyone will move on. Liberals don't think the rules apply to them that's why it's a recurring problem they refuse to own.

But let any other party member even whisper something like that and you see calls to resign.

Stop making excuses for this twit. He said what he said and meant to say it.

I too heard it frequently while growing up in Maryland.

It was particularly common on the Eastern Shore.

If it's a racial slur, this company should be shut down then

I don’t even know what word is being discussed here so I would guess I’ve either never heard it or heard it so infrequently that it didn’t register. I’m a 50 year old white women but not from the mid Atlantic area.
Is it possible he just misspoke? I’m finding that as I hit middle age, my tongue sometimes stumbles and just subs in different syllables. I’ve become very sympathetic to bidens malaproprisms. But since I don’t know the word I don’t know how likely this is.

You don’t know the word? Half the people responding here do not know the word??

Is your point: “it is not a racial slur” - since you don’t know it??

Well OK then; if it’s not a slur then you obviously have no issue with spelling it out, from a search of it (‘cause every search engine seems to know it)

jigaboo /jĭg′ə-boo͞″/
noun
Used as a disparaging term for a black person.
A negro, especially an African-American; -- an offensive term usually intended as an ethnic slur.
Similar: I DELETED THESE
A black person.”

I believe you all knew this was a slur. I believe you all are LYING to try to run cover for Trone.

And I believe he is lying too. He is a liar and a racist.

Alsobrooks has entered the room.

Anti-Black, self-hating RGIII said the same word on ESPN and later gave a fake apology after receiving backlash. A White man would have been fired.

But here is what Trone said: “So this Republican [bugaboo] that it’s the tax rate that’s stopping business investment, it’s just completely faulty by people who have never run a business. They’ve never been there. They don’t have a clue what they’re talking about.”

Bugaboo makes total sense. The slur word makes zero sense. Sometimes people actually mis-speak.

Bugaboo

1: an imaginary object of fear
2: bugbear sense 2 (an object or source of dread: a continuing source of irritation : problem)
also : something that causes fear or distress out of proportion to its importance
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/bugaboo

Anyone with half a brain knows he mis-spoke, given the right word makes sense in the context of the phrase, and the wrong word (the one he used) doesn't make any sense at all.

But apparently there's a very fired-up poster trying to make this into something!

I agree he probably misspoke. But man if Trump had said this you guys would have his head. Let’s be real.
remember when Desantis ran for governor and he said throw a monkey wrench or something like that?

So vote for Hogan?

Nah.

It was a mistake.

Well, I've never heard anyone utter it IRL, but I know of it mainly because of the David Allen Coe song. Which is about as racist as it gets.

Be did not say bugaboo. Bugaboo is not the slur.

Anonymous wrote:This is 100% bad. If the N word is 100 on the "do not say" list then J....boo is a solid 90. I am in my 60s and this was a somewhat more polite way of saying the N word in the 70s and 80s. I haven't heard it used in decades. I have heard all the slurs from growing up in PG County but had never heard the word macaca used as a racial slur when it ended George Allen's career. That was not a slip of the tongue - Trone has used that word before. He is doneski.

I had to figure out the word with context clues. I heard this (I thought now arcane) racial slur over 30 years ago in SW Virginia from an older resident. Horrible. This is NOT an innocent slip of the tongue

This life long Maryland resident and Democrat is not aware that some consider this word to be racist.

Same.

Am I sure you know every slang word out there that some portion of the human race considers to be derogatory? Not likely.

Am I guess you consider every male who has made an off color comment about women to be a sexist pig? Not likely.
