Yea, this is not considered appropriate. Most women are there to work out and do not appreciate advances in this context.

My gym (not in DMV) does singles events / mixers. They’ve included a bar meet up and a group hike for instance. I think this is a cool idea for recognizing people might not want to get hit on at the gym but might also like to socialize with singles they’ve met at the gym.
