They can argue it. Try.

Let’s see what SCOTUS thinks about it.
Why would sCrOTUS have a say?

Because violation of the 8th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution would be the argument. You're pretty clueless at this, aren't you?

Eighth Amendment

"Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted."
But this is NOT a fine, per se. It's a long established formula for disgorging illegally obtained monies. Trump also first needs to appeal through the NY appeals court, NY Supreme Court etc. After all, didn't sCrOTUS refuse to hear the case for Trump's immunity earlier, saying Jack Smith had to go through the proper channels first? Trump can't just leapfrog this case, that would truly show the system is rigged

What funds were illegally obtained? He borrowed money from banks. Those banks reviewed his collateral and assets and approved the loans and the banks were paid back in full with interest. From
whom were illegal funds accepted. This is crazy town.

It was fraud for the Baltimore DA and it was fraud, monumental fraud, committed by Trump for which a monumental fine is monumentally appropriate. I am looking forward to Ms. James seizing Trump Tower and 40 Wall and I hope both go for pennies on the dollar.

For all fawny claims w/o any victims.

A lot of people aren’t used to having ex-presidents with such long records of criminality, so you must excuse them. I mean usually a president is someone you could look to for inspiration. In this case, you got this spray-tanned piece of sht who has lied about just about everything and cheated anyone who has ever been close, so you know, right? Makes sense to have a few posts.

Somebody in the New York legislature passed a bill with Trump in mind, said for one year the statute of limitations on long ago sexual assault will be waived. Then suddenly E Jean refiles. It seems like they got the target first and then they manipulated or redefined the laws to make sure that he could be prosecuted.

When in doubt always go for conspiratorial thinking first, I see.

A new law in New York is behind the civil lawsuit brought by E. Jean Carroll against Donald Trump, and survivors hope the spotlight put on it by this week’s verdict against the former president means more people might use it.
The law opened a one-time window for adult sexual assault survivors in New York to file a civil case against an abuser or institution that protected the abuser — no matter when the assault took place, even if it’s outside the statute of limitations. But that window expires in six months.

The law has a one-year window through late November.

Within hours of the law going into effect in late November, Carroll filed a battery and defamation civil suit against Trump.

The Adult Survivors Act Has Expired In New York State

With the expiration of the law, individuals can no longer file new lawsuits under the provisions of the Adult Survivors Act.

How is this a conspiracy if it’s true?

Why has NY let it expire? Why not just keep it in place?

Because they don’t really care about the issue, they are politically motivated to go after DJT. It’s blatant corruption and hypocrisy.

So you are good with some people breaking the law and not being held accountable, but not others?

Lots of developers have talked about how common these accounting processes are. I'm still waiting for the NY Ag to go after other NYC property owners.

Let's hear from them then. Since fraud is such a regular occurrence I'm sure they'll be proud to publicly admit to committing it.

Just as a reminder, one of the acts of fraud was claiming that a Scottish property had 2,000 existing housing units built while in reality there were none and it was only zoned for 200. But, as you say, that must be a normal business practice.

Except that this is correct. Laws were changed to permit prosecution of Trump and then changed back. It’s sickening.

Trump committed a crime as clearly shown in the suit. Should he be immune from consequences?

When you present one set of valuation to a bank for a loan and a different valuation for the same property for your taxes, you are either lying to the banks, the IRS or both.

That is fraud.

If you don't get it, you don't get it.

Fraud is fraud. It also meant they didn't pay the taxes they were supposed to pay.

Those were determined by the court.

Before you go harping about "no victim", etc. this is a regular occurence under US law. Particularly when it comes to financial issues like this. Remember Michael Milken? 600 million dollar fine (back when that was real money and which he actually paid). His fraud was a fraud upon the market. Just like Don the Con. The presentation of fraudulent information prevented others who submitted accurate and non-fraudulent information from obtaining loans or if they were able to obtain them, at a much worse interest rate. Your "victimless" fraud argument is juvenile at best.

Too funny.

Mark Levin is a perpetually outraged clown. His radio show is akin to listening to penguins discussing quantum physics. This is the current conservative thought leader?

These are the same people who only get outraged at a leaker who reveals some crazy sht (like Trump trying to blackmail Ukraine into dirt on a political rival) and not at the actual content of the leak.

It’s called being in a cult. You all, many of whom are not college graduates and generally have a hard time with critical reasoning anyway, will stick by this disgrace of a human by any means. I won’t even try to convince you Trump is a criminal with all his 91 felony charges, because you can’t be reasoned out of an opinion you didn’t reason yourself into in the first place. This dude is your God emperor and you are lemmings.

Also, keep in mind what he’s doing here. He’s implying that billionaires are illiquid to provide cover for the world’s poorest ‘billionaire’. Trump’s brand has taken a big hit.
