Of course it happens — but some commenters here (wrongly) think that all colleges that consider yield are automatically second-rate. Realistically, all schools have to calibrate their admissions decisions to make sure they get a first-year cohort that's not too big, and not too small.
They have dorm space and classroom size to consider — and the AOs' bosses also want to see a decent yield. Of course there are miscalculations, and some kids get rejected despite great stats and a genuine desire to attend, even as some lower-stats kids get in. I wouldn't use that as a way to disparage the school, though – that's not an easy job at all.
