You can get great benefits from just 2500 steps daily, and surely you can manage a walk like that at lunchtime.

Spend some time doing a kettlebell workout in front of the TV in the evenings for the strength training benefits.

90% of weight loss is diet not workout, but the walking and weights will help with mental health etc. and neither is likely to make you sweat. Cardio is WAY overrated.

You’re right it is about diet.
I’m curious why cardio is overrated though.

Cardio doesn't burn as many calories as people think, and intense cardio drives hunger - ask the typical athlete how many calories they consume.

There is a lot of research now that proves a daily walk at moderate to brisk pace has major benefits in terms of heart health and mental health. Weight training just 15-30 minutes daily can preserve muscle mass as we age and boost metabolism to help with fat loss. But diet is 90% of the equation.

Thank uou. I believe the mayo clinic says diet is best to lose weight. One would have to do well over 60 minutes daily to lose calories which isn’t sustainable.
They recommend dieting to lose the weight but cardio later to help maintain it.
I also agree with brisk walking as being good.

*60 minutes of cardio is what I meant

I work out every day. Usually early mornings before I shower. On the random day ( usually weekends) that I go later in the day, I don’t shower until after the workout.

I exercise right before I would have showered anyway. If I don't exercise in the morning and plan on working from home, i don't shower until whenever I do exercise (usually before lunch or right after work). That way I'm not really wasting any extra time, the shower would have taken me just as long whether I exercised or not.

This is me. I’m not one to sweat. I don’t have sweat dripping down me, ever. It could be 95° and I’m on a run and I’ll become flush, but I don’t sweat. I definitely don’t sweat at the air conditioned gym. Anyway, I use a Summer’s Eve wipe and clean myself with that, and then I use a baby wipe for my pits, reapply deodorant, change into clean clothes, brush my hair, and go.

I time my three sweaty cardio workouts around hair washes. If I don’t wash my hair after those, I get a major dandruff issue. After walking and doing strength or stretching, I can shower and skip the hair wash. It’s annoying but my scalp can’t take the sweat without a wash.

If that’s in the evening, your family isn’t going to care if you’re in after-workout mode for a couple of hours before you finally shower. If in the morning, you just need to go to be earlier so you get enough sleep in before your workout. Also, on weekends, it’s totally normal to run errands after working out before you eventually shower — what do you think most of the people coming out of the gym in their Lululemon do? But yes, you are not a good candidate for a WOH lunch hour workout if a long shower is required.

Agree with bolded. I have to wash my hair every other day. So I just spend another 30-60 minutes exercising.

What the h#ll are you doing in the shower for over an hour? You just need to get ready faster.

I have long, thick hair and I do sweat. On days I don’t go to the office, I wash my body and leave my hair sweaty. I dry it with a blow dryer and spray it with dry shampoo.

On days I do go in, I sometimes wear my hair pulled up into a twist or a loose bun because it is still damp when I need to leave. I let it down so it can dry when I am alone at my desk and then put it back up to look presentable for meetings.

Drying and styling my hair on a weekday is a special occurrence that I make time for only if I have an important presentation or client meeting.

I barely sweat, if at all, when I work out. I lift weights for about an hour.
I use body wipes and change everything head to toe.

Why bother wasting time in a public shower? I sweat more walking around outside all summer in this area. No one stops doing what they’re doing on a summer day because they broke sweat.
