Showering getting in the way of exercising

Take up swimming as your primary exercise - it works all the muscles in your body with zero impact on your joints and if you sweat it’s neutralized by the chlorine in the pool. Wear a swim cap, rinse in the poolside shower, towel off, dress and back to work.

Omg this is gross. And I’m someone who doesn’t have BO. But please shower after you work out, even if you don’t sweat a lot.

Your husband is probably nose blind to you. That doesn’t mean you stink like intense body odor, but you probably have a smell that’s a little bit too strong for others.

+1

And please wash your hair! Your sweaty hair can smell, too.

I shower in the am. When I work out after work, I take a quick shower. I don't rewash my hair. That wIrs for the am. My workout are like a 2 mile jog so not dripping in sweat

NP. I don't understand the fuss. You don't need to wash your hair. Showering with soap takes only 60 seconds. Drying and getting dressed another two minutes. Touching up makeup a final 2 minutes.

How does this become a 2 hour ordeal? Are you disabled?

My hair has never stayed dry with a swim cap. Even when I double them up.

This!!!! It’s really not that difficult to figure out.

The obvious solution is to work out before the time you were going to shower anyway. If that’s in the evening, your family isn’t going to care if you’re in after-workout mode for a couple of hours before you finally shower. If in the morning, you just need to go to be earlier so you get enough sleep in before your workout. Also, on weekends, it’s totally normal to run errands after working out before you eventually shower — what do you think most of the people coming out of the gym in their Lululemon do? But yes, you are not a good candidate for a WOH lunch hour workout if a long shower is required.

“go to bed earlier”

I just have to say that I'm a guy (and a bald guy at that) and do not have this issue thankfully but I just want you to know that I totally get it. It's neve crossed my mind before that this could be an issue but I get it. I'm not sure what I would do if I was in your shoes. But, in general, if you are only lifting weights, 99% of the time, I don't come close to breaking a sweat, so I would understand if you chose not to shower after some workouts. Good luck.

Unless you are just doing some light stretching you should shower. A body shower should only take 60 seconds. I am sure you can spare that.

I'm not sure why we all think a shower is required after any kind of exercise. Seems to only apply if you label physical activity "exercise."

What about:

1. every kid ever in gym class
2. taking a long walk or hike
3. playing outside with young kids
4. light yard work
5. moving boxes around the house

Not everything requires an immediate shower.

I guess this might work for some people, but when I work up a sweat, my head and hair gets sweaty too. Washing my hair is probably 75% of the point of the shower.

Op- I think I understand what you’re saying, and I probably have experienced some aversion to exercising due to the mandatory post exercise, shower too. there are times when I could have squeezed in an exercise, but not an exercise and shower, so I skipped exercise.
