Mclean exodus

Due to HS soccer being different seasons, crossing state lines doesn't work well.

Bethesda Families,

This coming August 2024, Bethesda Soccer Club will offer a girl's high school fall program. In recent years, more of our top players have chosen not to participate with their high school teams, and paired with the growing number of Virginia-based players in our club, this is now a necessary step.

This program is optional for the players in our club. Still, for players who desire to train and play in the club environment year-round and for our VA-based families, this will provide the needed structure to support all Bethesda Soccer Club members.

This program will be open to all ECNL high school-aged players. As our club looks to expand our facilities, we plan to offer three days of technical training followed by a weight/speed and agility session. We will also bio-band the players and have them train with one of our top boys' teams each week, which will be based on level. In addition to the training, the team will play games in August, September, and October and end the season in early November.

Bethesda's goal will be to provide an alternative to high school soccer and improve these players technically, tactically, and physically during this window. We will hold a Zoom call in May to discuss this in more detail: a Zoom link and time to come in a follow-up email.
Thanks,
Bethesda Soccer Club

I wish this would happen with boys' ECNL in VA too. Spring is dead for private school/MD players.

Recruiting for top players. Roster size for everyone else

Understand roster size, how does this affect recruiting for top players in a negative way?

It doesn't unless BRAVE or BRYC coaches get older teams. Those coaches have no track record or network compared to McLean.

McLean is getting the older ages.

Are you on the board of the FXU and can confirm that's true? Whether we stay or go will depend on coaching slate.

Are you saying your kids are to good to play for BRYC or VYS coaches?

How arrogant.

VYS does not have any ECNL level teams or cosches. Therefore They shouldn’t be assigned to any FXU ECNL teams. This new club needs to post the criteria they are using to assign coaches. It should be clear and metrics based.

If VYS gets a 1/3 of the vote it should get 1/3 of the coaching slots.

How does combining with the worst performing team in the ECNL make McLean stronger? That is ridiculous.

Brave should have just been booted out

Sigh. Meritocracy is dead.

Your kid could not be able to tell the difference between a soccer ball & a hole in the ground, but if mommy buys winter warm up jackets for the team, said kid will have a starting position. True story. Ask NM & other coaches who are easily bought. Zero integrity.

You are very late to the party. Check the other thread. Brave not the reason for the merger, Union was.

Doesn’t Burke feed into BRYC at age 6? That means they should get at least one coaching slot and 1/6th of players

Correction: both Brave and McLean were advised to merge because of weak performance, primarily on the boys' side.

Nope, BAC has their own thang.

Burke is a completely separate community sports league from BRYC.

Nope, in addition to poor performance on the boys side, McLean was also going to lose their regional program according to the MYS email.

Wrong. VYS and BRYC partnered to form BRAVE. Both clubs have BRAVE ECNL coaches.

True test will come during the playoffs.

The true test is college commits. Every girl on the oldest Arlington Team is committed. That is what ECNL is about. Not playoffs.
