What are you talking about? Right now the MVA gets a grant through covid money. The actually MCPS funds go to the home school, even though they aren't providing any education or services to the kids. So, they are getting paid money for students that aren't actually going to their school. I don't get your Kennedy comment. |
Maybe we should hold the parents and students accountable for attendance. And, cut out all the extra spending, like grants for non-profits, central office and many other things to pay for needed programs like the MVA. |
The bolded part applies to a lot of schools and a lot of kids. |
I do hope the interim super does a deep dive into this. Nothing at the school level should be cut. |
If your kids are well enough to handle a full courseload, then why aren't they in school? |
No, most districts do not operate their own virtual programs. Those that have virtual programs generally partner with the state or a private provider. Even a system as large as MCPS can't fill a virtual program. |
I think the PP was making a cruel joke at the expense of Kennedy because the chronic absenteeism rate at Kennedy is over 50%, hence the remark about cutting funding in half, since you wouldn't pay money for kids who are chronically absent. |
Ask the hundreds of families that have kids enrolled in the VA |
If you need that much flexibility, you should homeschool. Public school is not about having a whole bunch of a la cart options. |
Leader in me was such a huge waste of money.
|
Very different. If kids chose not to go to school, that is on the parents not kids. |
That’s not similar at all. Maybe you should homeschool since you think it’s so great. Maybe brush up on multivariable calculus. |
Ok? They are in school. |
No, they're not. Why are you afraid to let them leave your sight? You must know how suspicious that looks. |
Lol. Good luck getting an answer out of them. |
