2/28/24 Yorktown @ Battlefield
2/29/24 Oakton @ Indy
3/1/24 Madison @ PVI
3/1/24 Riverside @ Robinson
3/2/24 Langley v. Potomac and Langley v. Indy
3/5/24 Langley @ St. Andrews
3/6/24 Battlefield @ Riverside
3/8/24 McLean @ West Potomac

I know they are only scrimmages, and you cant take the win or loss for anything. For fun lets predict "Starters vs. Starters".

2/28/24 Yorktown @ Battlefield Yorktown by 3
2/29/24 Oakton @ Indy Indy by 2
3/1/24 Madison @ PVI PVI by 9
3/1/24 Riverside @ Robinson Riverside by 1
3/2/24 Langley v. Potomac and Langley v. Indy Langley by 6 and Langley by 7
3/5/24 Langley @ St. Andrews Langley by 2
3/6/24 Battlefield @ Riverside Riverside by 2
3/8/24 McLean @ West Potomac McLean by 4

Chime in!!

Indy over Oakton would make a statement. If Madison is blown out by PVI that does not speak well for them. they should be able to keep this close. PVI is not the same team they were and will be relying on Sophomores this year.

Pretty reasonable predictions overall but likely giving Langley too much credit. They have scrimmaged Potomac the last two years and either tied or lost. They aren't beating Potomac by 6. And Indy will be good this year - Langley should win but not by 7. St. Andrews went 12-3 and won the MAC last season. Not convinced Langley beats them.

I do think Indy beats Oakton. And disagree that Madison can keep it close with PVI if both play starters the whole game. 9 goals seems about right.

Predicting winners from scrimmages? Really? Such a public school thing to do. Have fun though.

We will. Said it was "just for fun". Something to talk about and fill the time before the season starts.

Thanks!

How many holdbacks on PVI this year?

Probably none. Maybe one. It might not have been for lacrosse. I know several of these kids and they are not a holdback team. That is a Maryland thing.

Definitely at least one, probably more. No one ever says it’s for lacrosse but we all know, right?

Who cares? This is a board to discuss public school lacrosse. Why does it matter if some private school has a single holdback?

Cause PVI is playing Madison. Seems like a fair comment.

In a scrimmage. But oh yeah we’re picking winners for scrimmages for fun.

It's a game. It's what people do.

Nobody is holding a kid back to play lacrosse at PVI, I am only aware of kids on the Basketball team that do that but even then it’s not common. For what’s worth, PVI basketball is ranked no 1 or 2 in the country.

So there are no holdbacks at all?

There could be kids who were held back in kindergarten just like every schools in the area but nobody repeated 8th or 9th grade to then go to PVI and play lacrosse. Only kids going to boarding school will do that.

Nope. I know at least one that did so when he got to PVI. But this talk is pointless.
