I have no clue about 4A, Dominion always seems good, but I feel like Atlee and Glass are way better down south.

I get that the trend is to always say how great Riverside is in 5A, but has anyone actually seen them play recently? They didn't play in any fall league, they lost that sick attackmen that went to Jacksonville. I don't think they have much. Why do people keep saying they are that much better then everyone else?

6A should be up in the air. Madison is so good. I don't agree with Langley, they lost to bad teams last year. Yorktown should be on there, and maybe even McLean.

Riverside has 2 keys to their team- FOGO (heading to D1 Jax next year) and goalie. Give them extra possessions and limit scoring runs by the opposition. Briar will battle then tough for 1st in the Potomac District.

Still think Atlee is the best public school in all of VA regardless of class.

I mean Riverside will still need to find someone to score, doesn't matter how many possessions you have if you cant score goals. I do agree Atlee is fantastic. Madison, Atlee and Riverside all play each other this year! Who ever scheduled that is a genius, that debate will be settled on the field now!

Great point. However Langley's 2023 schedule was not very strong. Really good to see that they boosted their 2024 slate. It will be interesting to see how they do when facing more "good teams" this year.

They have Joe High's (Salsbury/MLL) kid whose young but very good and a couple of D3 commit (Ursinus and Vasser) seniors who should carry the load. Obviously nothing like they've had the last couple of years from a talent perspective but still good enough to challenge for a 4-peat.

I would agree not the "strongest" but also not weak as well but not close to the competition they've invited this year. Those two teams from MD are legit and Cosby is a good test. They're only real gimme games are a couple in district. It's a fun year from a 6A scheduling perspective with multiple VA vs MD and multiple southern schools playing NOVA schools. I can't wait to get out and see some fun games.

I feel like Robo did not challenge themselves this year as they have in the past. I wonder if that means that they don't anticipate to be as strong?

Please forgive the uninformed question, but my kid is a freshman and I am still getting my bearings on HS lacrosse. What is the difference between 6A and the lower divisions? I presume that the divisions are based on size and/or geography? Wondering if the lower division teams are in the running for the same state championship as 6A, or do they compete for their own championship like Division III colleges?

Divisions are based on the school size. Lacrosse isn't offered at a lot of the smaller schools in the state, so 1A-4A are lumped together. Three state championships currently (4A, 5A, 6A). Realignment happens every couple years.

The divisions are based on enrollment size. Most Fairfax County schools are 6A, Loudon is mixed and the 1-3 divisions are rural areas.

Watching these two bark at each other will be fun to watch. Those egos need to be fed

I would say Yorktown and McLean should have good years this year. But I don’t know who is going to get by Madison as a lot of the team is returning.

Has anyone heard anything about Oakton?

Interesting question, with the turkey shootout canceled this year, the Oakton question mark is large. They do have a veteran coaching staff lead by Coach Bullock. They historically are always decent, sometimes that history gets you through some tough games. Specifics about players, I know they have a senior LSM who plays for VLC who is pretty good. Other then that ??????

Not much chatter about Yorktown. What do they have coming back this year? Will they have a chance to challenge Madison?
