She shared her experience, it does not have to be similar to yours. I guess she is only irritating because she is from UK and criticized Americans and that she has privileged circumstances. I give her lots of credit for apologizing. You can never win on this board. |
Agreed. |

I have a 5-month old, work FT and I see friends at least once a week....probably 3 times. My house, their house, walks on the weekends, park....usually order in food. I am not sure how else I would enjoy my life. Friends are so critical!
I do not find the UK mom annoying at all. I think so many people on this board are jealous when they hear that someone else is balancing their life better than they are. Ridicuous. |
| Wasn't sure if the OP meant couples/family friends, girlfriends, or other mom/child friends. 10:40, are you saying you meet with other families three times a week? Wow. |

I am the OP. I realize that I was vague, but I was thinking about couple friends.
Our weekends are busy with Costco/Target runs, yardwork (esp. this time of year), laundry, other things like culling clutter and putting together things for Goodwill, hosting my out of town parents who visit frequently... We also like to do things as a nuclear family unit. I have a baby and a toddler, and afternoon naptime is sacred, as is bedtime. When we are able to get a babysitter, we go out just the two of us, because we love to do that, and don't often get the opportunity. Our friends have only recently started to have their first children (and some are still single), so our lifestyles have been different. Our friends are all very busy too, and it can be challenging to get our calenders aligned. Even if we had friends over for brunch once a month, by the time we cycled through all our friends, it would be a year before we saw the first ones again. It helps to hear that the toddler years make it tougher. That maybe it's more a lifestage issue that will pass with time. |
| I am the 10:40 poster.....3x a week we meet with other families, friends, or my siblings....that includes the weekend. |
