similar to UMD if you live in MoCo. I think the college admissions landscape has *really* changed in the last several years. |
One person out of 30,000 going there is like a pebble of sand at the beach. Big deal. |
+1 I went to RU along with my siblings and DH and his siblings. We all loved it. But I also have a friend who transferred out. There’s always going to be someone who doesn’t like a school, this isn’t unique to Rutgers. |
💯 Rutgers placement in pharma / bio is better than finance to be honest While mass has all the bio vc money, nj has the highest concentration of “normal” industry pharma/bio jobs |
I’ll never understand DCUM. In one breath it “T10/25/50” blah blah blah and in the next breath it’s “oh those rankings suck and mean nothing and are totally wrong.” |
This is what it’s like at most of the good state flagships. I agree the system is broken, but it’s not just NJ. |
It's a reference with lots of rooms for interpretation. It's not a exact science. Duh |
Rutgers does about $700M a year in research and BC is around $100M. |
| I don't know, but I will say that the smartest guy in my office went to Rutgers. He's from NJ though. |
What ethnicity? |
Maybe because there are different people posting? |
Yep, no sports history there. Well, other than a little sports contest on November 6, 1869 also known as the first ever intercollegiate football game. The team may not be the best, but games were always fun. The train station on the edge of campus makes NYC very accessible to those who really want to go. The student body is also overall smart and motivated. My HS junior will be applying in the fall (OOS) and I would have no problem sending her there. - NJ native with a graduate degree from RU and a lot of alumni relatives, who was also a faculty member there for several years |
Ranking is not related to acceptance rate. |
| Rutgers has an honors college. Is that new? Is that a draw for students? |
+1. Especially when rankings are perceived as somehow dissing their favorite privates/(S)LACs, even tangentially. |
