| Has no one here watched "Bama Rush" on Max? Rush consulting is serious business! |
Okay then I’ll take you at your word that this wasn’t a joke, and I’ll just ignore the lookie-loos. The honest truth is that rush consultants are hired at some SEC schools (Bama, Ole Miss, Auburn, maybe even Mizzou and LSU and Georgia to a lesser degree) to help cultivate resume, guide choices that be made in advance to impact connections like camp and national charity league involvement, and help select wardrobe and appropriate photo submissions, and secure references that have the greatest impact. This is a thing in those very limited systems where membership in college still impacts what social and business connections are made beyond university if you remain within the state. But it does need to be a thing. Chances are if you feel the “need” for a consultant, you were never destined to be an XYZ. Because IYKYK, and if you don’t, you probably don’t want to or just don’t live within that sphere. And for 99.9% of college campuses, hiring a rush consultant is not only unthinkable but also completely pointless. |

Sure.

Whooops ——does NOT need to be a thing. |
Much, much less so for boys. They should not have more than 3-5 posts on their insta either. |
+1 Google Alabama “the machine” for a real education on university connections, Greeks, government, and state politics. It’s real. And scary. |
In my extended family the younger college graduates are mostly doctors, lawyers and engineers and none of them participated in this horse$&&t. |
Wow, people spend money for sororities? We are full pay, couldn't/wouldn't pay for such frivolous add ons. |
| I read something about summer camps that prepare girls for rush, like in Texas. Is that a thing? Weird! |
You're too late. If you don't have one by 3rd grade you're too far behind. Thanks for the laugh. |
I don't think you are kidding - I believe it. I just think it's sad. But I suppose rush was never something I thought was my thing. I purposely chose a school without greek life. My current college student is not likely to be interested...who knows about the younger one. It's up them. But I do know they aren't asking for a rush consultant and are not likely to be disappointed they they missed the boat on a rush consultant. |
This is also sad - but one would hope that kids are encouraged to do ECs they actually enjoy and are getting something out of their time - not just cultivating an online image for a house to search on looking for "worthiness or cool factor". (I know this is not always the case - so I see your point). |
The machine is up and running in many schools. It’s just not called the machine. |
Wait - you post 60% of UVA rush thread and you don't have college aged kids? |
Bizarre. |
