What age did your son start?

Too many idiots chiming in with uninformed opinions. They need to stop

By public hair you probably mean the downy hair down there is just slightly darker than it used to be, right? If so, this is totally normal to happen at this age. Plus no breast buds? This isn’t early puberty. Please don’t seek out hormone blockers for the love of god.

This child was stick skinny too. For what it's worth.

NP. How old was your son at the start of puberty and how old is he now? I have the opposite - 12.5 year old son with no signs of puberty. Wondering when it will start. He is also stick thin and is gulping whole milk and eating ic cream every night.

My DD had pubic hair at age 8. She didn't get her period until she was 12.

I had hair and breast buds in 3rd grade (age 8) and then didn't have my period until 7th grade. I was tall and skinny. if its the range of normal, then its normal. If you have a medical question, ask a doctor.

I coach 9-10yr old girls soccer, When getting changed I notice that most (not all) are showing signs of puberty, That I know of, 8 of the 10yr olds have started their periods. I keep a box of pads in the changing room so they can help their selves if needed.

(1) 8 of how many? (2) what demographics and races are these kids? There’s a big racial disparity in puberty onset.

(3) GET OUT OF THE LOCKER ROOM WHILE THEY’RE CHANGING. This is safety policy 101. You should NEVER see - or set the example of having an outside adult see - them changing!

Pubic hair seems to not being an accurate measure of the stage of puberty. My DD got her period at 12 1/2 and didn't get any hair til after. And we're a hairy family in general so I was surprised

Yes I too was hairless down there but had biggish boobs it was not until after my periods started did the hair start around 12.
My oldest is 10 no period, boobs have started, down there hair has gone from light fuzz to dark adult type. I only noticed this as she has started getting discharge and she asked if it was normal.

Here is a tanner scale of puberty stages.
Both are signs of puberty but may differ in what comes first/grows quicker.
My DD got breasts first but the pubic hair grew quicker

(1) 8 of 13 of them are 10. The mothers have each let me know.

(2) All the 10yr olds are white.

(3) My office is at the back and part of the changing room and am constantly going back and forth to get supplies from the store room so impossible not to notice.

DP. My son had pubic hair at I think his 9 year old well child visit? Ped was unfazed, just said he was maturing. People generally only freak out about this if it’s a girl.

Lupron is not to be played with unless the kid really needs it.

If your kid is suicidal at 8 because they have signs of puberty, there are MUCH bigger issues going on, and the last thing I’d do is start throwing in meds that mess with hormones. ffs.
