Are you going to take a turn and go on your holiday? We can’t accommodate them all! |

You think the governor is responsible for approving waivers? No, there won't be a waiver. |
They could do it 6/18 or do it 6/17 but extend the deadline to 6/18 and allow anyone who wants to celebrate an extra day to wrap up. |
I'm not religious. So, sure. |
Further emphasizing the absurdity of attempting to accomodate religious holidays. |

Jan 29 is way too soon.
And finalizing end of semester grades + report cards takes several hours of teacher time. When will all that get done if it becomes a full school day. Teachers also have state mandated SLOs to submit along with IEP quarterly reports. They also need to create Canvas courses for semester 2. |
The absurdity of making it possible to have religious practice without significant hurdles... right. |
You sound so sure of yourself as if you work for MDSE. There is a 50/50 chance there will be. You don't know any more than the other people posting here, so stop pretending like you do. |
| In the past, MCPS would wait until the end and ask for a waiver. Waivers were often granted for snow during a state of emergency. Hogan was very reluctant to give waivers, especially if the county didn't try to make up at least some. Who knows how Wes Moore feels about this. But by the time a waiver is requested and denied most of the make up days would have been passed so we would use the ones at the end of the year. |
It doesn’t need to be a full day. It could be a half day and give kids a last chance to make up work. It they’d already announced it, teachers could have adjusted (already had to crunch end of quarter assignments.) Personally I wish MCPS would announce makeup days the same day it has the extra closure. That would give enough warning for people to react. |
A half day is a ridiculous loophole. A half day completely screws up special education services scheduled for that day. We can do a full day, and we should do a full day. |
No it doesn’t. lol if you think sped services are regular in the first place. There’s a shortage if you’ve been paying any attention at all. Clearly, you haven’t but you love to speak about things you don’t know about. Stop posting. |
At some point, enough is enough and there needs to be a cut off for work. Kids need to get it in on time or ask for an extension and not wait weeks to turn it in. This is part of the problem of why kids are struggling. |
What happened to separation of church and state. Go to religious school if you need the religious holidays. |
