+1. I wouldn’t dismiss this as innocent giggling. Whatever your values are about sex and privacy, your daughter clearly doesn’t share them.

You clearly don’t know 8th graders. This is completely normal. Plenty are having oral and regular sex too

please stop with the nonsense. while giggling is normal, actual sex is uncommon. it's a tiny minority doing it.

Keep telling yourself that, mama.

You have no reliable way of knowing.

Even the school surveys way under-count teen sex because teens are embarrassed to admit to - you know: THAT - even when teachers promise the survey will be anonymous and the school computer “completely secure” (how many times have we heard that whopper?).

yes, i do a very good way of knowing. i am not talking about surveys, either. kids are not embarrassed to admit it - most girls want a BF yet they don't have one (7th grade). and then it's another step to actually having sex.

It's a really good opportunity to talk about all sorts of aspects of sex. Why shut it down?

Honey I was kissing boys behind the wall that separated our backpacks and lunchboxes in elementary school. This was the 90s. Started in 5th grade. We didn’t have cell phones. The phone is a barrier, the classroom and school setting is where she’s physically touching and being touched on.

Further, as she gets older, make sure she understands if she's giving, she better be receiving as well.

I wish my wife's mother had taught her that!
