Throw out 3/4 bottle shampoo?

Agreed. One neighbor posted a half-eaten smoked ham on our local page, and it was promptly requested.

Yep have definitely posted half used beauty products in Buy Nothing and people were happy to snap it up.

You're an adult and haven't found a shampoo and conditioner that works for you? After all these years?

Well, to be fair, you’re an adult and you don’t know that this is something that happens regularly to many people with curly or textured hair? Humidity, weather, hormones, the way my hair changes after repeated blow outs / silk presses versus wearing it curly for months…the list goes on. If I’m wearing my hair straight - I need a whole different set of products versus wearing it curly. It is sometimes hard to get travel or sample sizes for curly products so I do end up buying a regular sized bottle to try it.

OP - maybe you could set a budget for hair products or say that she can only purchase 1 hair product every x weeks or whatever. Google or search TikTok to find ideas for what to do with barely used hair products. I have seen this topic covered on blogs etc.

It’s also something that happens to some people who are neurodivergent (shopping a lot, object impermanence etc).

Not OP - but is there absolutely NOTHING you do on a regular basis that contributes to environmental waste? Your hypocrisy and narrow mindedness is astounding.

How many of you complaining about OP's daughter's shampoo bottles flew on an airplane recently?

NP. I also have curly hair and it’s very different than having wash and go normal hair.

+1 from a different NP.

The snarky PP carping about "you're an adult and haven't found one that works after all these years?" must have easy-care hair or hair that didn't change at all with age. How fortunate for that person, but the smugness and judgement are not a good look, no matter how perfect the hair might be.

The smugness and judgment is unreal. It also reeks of privilege because the stores aren’t filled with hair products that work well for all hair types.

This. My hair dried out s oI got a bunch of conditioners that we were too much for my hair. All used once or twice. All gone in minutes. Sometimes it's people who want to do the same and sometimes it's just frugal people. It amazes me too. And the ppl who take people's lefterover food. That I don't get at all.

It's the plastic waste, the production waste, etc. My husband would take it upon himself to finish every shampoo bottle and then lecture his teen on not buying anymore. He would urge the household (regardless of gender) to finish up everything.

Can she find mini sizes if she wants to try something?

+1 This would not fly at our house either. It’s about all the waste.

Make her pay for it. Problem solved. If she does pay for it, it’s not your problem except you’re raising a stupid teen.
