New Information on John Falcicchio - This Looks Horrible for the Mayor

I'm a longtime therapist in the DMV, and I've had patients who have worked for the DC government, in the mayor's office and at agencies. Let me tell you that I've heard *a lot* of horror stories about how people are treated, the dysfunction, and in many cases the rank misogyny. It seems pretty awful.

Don’t go to DCHR! They will cover for them and make you disappear. And don’t say anything to anyone because that would embarrass your poor, racist, sexist boss.

Discrimination can be perpetrated by one minority against another, too. There are very few Latinos in DC government, despite the large percentage of Latinos in the District.

I have worked for three agency heads in DC, with each somehow worse than the last. Part of it is likely due to Bowser's demand for loyalists, which reduces the size of the talent pool, not to mention former agency heads moving on to other jobs or ousted due to scandal. But I think some blame also goes to the Mayor's Office of Talent and Appointments, which allegedly vets candidates. MOTA runs the personnel part of the District's spoils system. (Lucrative government contracts are the other major part of Bowser's spoils system.)

This is a hackneyed and cliched line of reasoning. All that matters is being connected in the DC Government. I guarantee a non college educated white guy who is a CS 7 would go through the wringer filing a grievance against his politically connected, MS 15 boss who was a Black woman who worked as a Ward Captain for Team Green.

Class and being part of the Green Team club matter far more than race and gender in the DC Government.

Yeah, agree. Do you even live in the district? The makeup of WMATA is 98% African American. Ever been to DCRA? What’s the racial makeup of the police? It’s like 65% minority. I don’t believe you’re from DC at all. Mayor Barry also staffed the majority of the government with minority staff under his tenure…

The FBI investigation into the dealings of Falcicchio and his staff with DC developers doesn't bode particularly well for the mayor. He was her "Johnny Business."
