"Because said friends have tattoo expectations without the tattoo funds, every last one of them is badly done and looks like trash. I can appreciate a skilled work of art in any medium. These are notebook doodles at best, permanently rendered on perfect young skin. I think it's profoundly sad."
As a mom of a DS who let his friends give him tattoos, I 100% agree. |
Yes! They can be purchased right on Amazon with zero age restrictions. $60 for a whole kit. My DS' friend bought one. So far he's only practicing on fake skin that can also be purchased online. I don't do threats, but I have told DS if he allows that kid to give him a tattoo, I'm selling his car and not paying for college. I told DS I don't care if he gets a tattoo when he's 18 (I somewhat do care, but you know, trying to play it 'cool') but that tattoo cannot come from his friend. |
It sucks when you’re trying to date and almost everyone in the dating pool has one. |
| Expressive individualism. |
One of my employees who also has tattoos has piercings with diamond studs in her butt dimples. She also has piercings with several diamond studs between her breasts. You can see the line of diamond studs when she wears a lower cut blouse. I had never seen this before. Apparently you can get this done at tattoo parlors. |
But then what else would you use as excuse for being single? |
There are tattoos and there are TATTOOS. Some look good and some look bad. Just don't overdo it and put it some place you can cover it if needed. Get it from a hygienic sterile place. Most important tip: When it comes to tattoos, less is more. |
| Circumcision, body piercings, botox, fillers, facial surgery, fake boobs, hair color and highlights, henna, fake nails, nail polish, fake eyelashes, eyebrow tattoos, all are somewhat extreme. |
| + wigs, toupee, hair extensions |
No, it's not. It's not art. It's attention-seeking. And it's really ugly when you age. |
| 50-year-old mother of older teens here. I do not have any tattoos myself, but I love the look of tattoos on someone else as long as they are not on their face. I do hate gauges in ears though. |
| I’m 51 and have one! My DD in college has two. I love seeing them on others. So unique and individual. Your body is just a temporary house for your soul. Feel free to decorate as you please! |
It must be difficult living with all your anger and judgment at anyone different than you. I wish you better mental health in 2024. |
| Just realize that you sound like the previous generations….Thinking rock ‘n’ roll music, women, working outside of the home, erc. Was a decline of civilization. But you’ll be dead soon, and the new generation will have something to say about the next generation. |

I also find tattoos to be extremely ugly, but recognize that it’s none of my business. I really don’t care if people who are not my spouse want to mark themselves with tattoos.
I am dreading the day my child wants a tattoo and will try to steer them away but ultimately once they are 18 it’s their choice. |
