I'd go with "Eva" or "Evan ____ " like Evan Rachel Wood.
Go with "Evan J-something" and you and she have the option to use "EJ" which works as a gender neutral nickname name. |
Ashton doesn't shower, doesn't bathe his kids, named a girl an ugly name, and supported a rapist. So I don't think he's one to emulate. |
Only one of the things you listed is really a problem, you know. |

Evan Marie
Evan Claire Evan Jane Evan Kate I love it as a double barrel name or by itself! |
| I dont like it for either gender. |
| I know a female Evan - it suits her and I think it can definitely be pulled off for both genders. |
|
I love it, actually, and I am a name traditionalist through and through.
I would pair it with a very feminine middle name…or an equally nice family name. I wouldn’t a random “Evan Marie”. Evan Caroline Evan Madeline |
Please don't |

Wow, I didn’t realize how unliked Evan was as a name. My son’s name is Evan. When he was born, naming him was the easiest decision we made. We both loved the name. It wasn’t super common or unusual. It didn’t seem to be a name that was trying too hard.
If you want to name your girl Evan, I say go for it. I obviously love the name. If you love it, that is all that matters. |
| I love it! |
| Nope. |
| No. There are so many more beautiful names. I would say you could give her Evan as a middle name to keep the connection with you but not your first. |
| I knew a beautiful and glamorous woman named Evan and I think it’s a beautiful name. Close to Eavan, like the great Irish poet, Eavan Borland. |
| I know an Evan in her sixties and somehow it suits her. Name yours Evan and add a couple of middle names. She’ll have the option to use one of them if she really hates it. I think that would be unlikely considering it’s a normal sounding family name. |

Evan is still seen as more of a boy's name than a girl's name. I don't really understand this desire to name girl's with boy names. It suggests that you're embarrassed that you had a girl or that you really wanted a boy, but had to settle for a girl. You can't even name her with a girl's name, but wanted a boy so much, that you'll just name the child with a boy name like you hoped for.
Act like you're happy and proud to have had a girl and choose a strong girl name. |
