Worst colleges in US

And I can’t believe I have to say this, but Trump University wasn’t a university. It was a business seminar like what shady real estate investors give at hotels. That’s how it really started - a guy with a hotel seminar paid Trump to use his name. No degrees.

I thought people were smarter than this.

The second ranking is legit and the OP explicitly stated that at the beginning

Yes and also you need to look at WHY the grad rates are so low, etc. Maybe many of these students have to drop out because they need to work and help support their families. Maybe they are in debt forever because of predatory loans, etc., etc. There are so many things that can cause low grad rates.

And Trumo university was not on either list but someone jokingly asked why not - obviously tongue in cheek …

Given the low grad rates and high student debt incurred at these colleges, should some of these HBUCs convert to two year degrees with more supports to help students develop the skills they need to complete a four year degree?

What can the colleges themselves do to better serve these students ?

No, Georgetown was explicitly linked to DC. PP is just a troll. No modestly informed adult (or even a teenager) would believe Georgetown has a 45% graduation rate.

Guys OP asked if you have more accurate rankings and to think about why some colleges have very low graduation rates.

PPs have identified many of the colleges are HBUCs and that the GPAs and test scores are so low that the majority of students at these colleges are not prepared for college .

Should there be be Bette r oversight of poor performing colleges to stop them taking hard earned money from poor people and help them do a better job with students ?

Or are the problems more related to structural racism and very hard to get society to agree upon, let alone try and address?

Georgetown excels in its post-graduation opportunities: it is the 3rd best paid undergraduate in the US, the most recruited school on Wall Street, the most prominent school in the Foreign Service and the 2nd most represented school in the U.S Congress (after Harvard).

This has been clarified multiple times and is not the purpose of this thread

They made the list for student freedom of speech problems …

This thread is trying to discuss low grad rates and what makes for bad colleges and ways to help them do better by the student spending money they don’t have on college programs they don’t finish

Students plural obviously …

Are predatory practices of pitching colleges to black and poor students who are not ready for college going on?

Should there be a national GPA minimum for 4 year colleges or would that just make barriers to college entry worse?

A couple of these are arts schools - Berklee and SCAD, of course their post-grad earnings are low!

So since it is a black college, you ignore the low score metrics?
That's racism.

DP: Given that graduation rates correlated with low income and black students have a much higher chance of being low income, a basic analysis should compare their performance to how black populations do at other schools. It would be telling if the metrics were worse for an equivalent black student with the same SES level at a predominately white institution. My guess is that they wouldn't be so low with even the basic level of statistical controls.

Similarly with art schools--how do they compare with graduates of art majors at non-arts schools.

DO

I do wonder whether predatory practices of pitching college programs to students who are clearly not ready targets both black communities and people of all races with low income and low family education levels.

The level of student debt incurred for college programs that are not completed is troubling.

"Worst" is such a nebulous term.
