School times it’s fine, it’s the non school times that’s the problem. Erratic PIW patients seem to be congregating and I see many just walking in the middle of Wisconsin. |
You forgot about all the churchgoers. |
| It was 30 not 300. |
"People" didn't initially say 300, the police report did. So it of course received attention. I'm glad they clarified, but it still stinks. Why are you minimizing this? |
PIW has gotten out of hand too, agreed. Tentleytown needs an action plan. The neighborhood business association has tried things foryears. They need more support. |
Passing through. |
| I have witnessed fights in that area and I've called the cops on more than one occasion to break them up because kids were getting hurt. We should not accept the violence, drugs, or theft. These kids do not need jail but they need appropriate consequences. I totally agree with the PP who suggested weekend detention cleaning graffiti, picking up trash, or pulling invasive weeds. These kids need to learn how to value and give back to their communities rather than abusing and taking from them. |
| Imagine being scared of Tenleytown. Some of you seemingly don't have the courage to leave your houses. What's it like being scared of life? |
And they probably also need mandatory summer school to a.) keep them off the street and b.) teach them life skills, get them literate and whatever else so that they have more of a future than one that gets them dead or in jail before they reach 30 |
The cavalier attitude that people have about living in the most dangerous capitol cities in the Western World, and one of the most dangerous cities in America, is sad. Tenleytown is a cesspool compared to the nice parts of NYC and Boston - cities that aren’t on a downward trajectory crime wise. Cleveland Park, Tenleytown, and Friendship Heights used to be the nicer parts of DC in the 90s and early 2000s. Why is it weird to you and others that people are disturbed that they’ve backslid? |
If people are concerned about this, then they should be volunteering with the Tenleytown Main Street, which has been an effective organization working with the stores, the schools and the police, for years. |
| Tenley Circle was a very fun place in the 80's and 90's with Maggie's (if you can see over the bar, you got served) and Armand's next to each other. The movie theatre, Swensons Ice Cream, keg parties in Glover park, Dancing Crab (only place that seemed to have good reception for Caps games on Channel 20 as DC had no cable till 1989), Round table(open till 3am but dont tell anyone)....there was alot you could do. Last time I was up in the area, it was sad to see what the area has become. Then again, its sad to see what DC has become in general. Its a dump, even in what used to be nice areas. I disagree with the stuff with kids from Wilson or whatever they call it these days fighting. That was happening all the time in the 80's and 90's. You just did not hear about it as much due to no social media. SJC, GZ, BCC, Whitman, Landon and any other number of school kids would regularly brawl at Mazza during the week after school or on weekends when everyone would meet there to find out where the parties were. Social media would have been agast at what went on back in those days. |
| Let’s address the real problems facing the residents of DC and rename more things. |
Hugs, not drugs |
Girl, please. You must be a JR parent because you're certainly not a Tenley resident. |
