Students Blacklisted from Wall Street Jobs

Anonymous
There is literally nothing you can say about the israel-palestine conflict that won't get you canceled, no matter what side you sympathize with. Even this innocuous non-statement will probably anger someone. Everyone who can separate facts from spin/agenda/propaganda knows that. These students aren't in that set of people.

Your statement is fine.
Read theirs. They were outrageous.

When I was there kids were protesting JAG, shouting down Supreme Court justices giving speeches, marching for everything and anything, taking the most counter-culture stance available to prove they weren't The Man. These kids won't work on Wall Street, but they'll have jobs. Maybe even BigLaw jobs, if they scrub their internet presence well enough (Harvard or NYU on a resume opens a lot of doors, especially once you drop past V50).

IMO, it's a lot different today because of how much more sensitive people are about being PC, and social media has really exploded in the past few years.

Counter culture will and has always existed on big college campuses, but then it's just limited to that campus. When you post politically charged opinions, it's on the internet for the world to see. It's very different than protests on college campuses.

M the problem is these kids jump the gun. They don’t do any research. They just follow along blindly.

Of course! They are stupid undergraduates. Very stupid undergrads. This will follow them for life (I hope). I'm a Harvard grad and am still waiting for Claudine Gay to actually DO SOMETHING. Issuing statements (late) that punt are not helpful.

when I applied for top secret security clearance every single thing I had ever done and every single place I had ever lived was visited and revisited. It took nine months. Friends in distant states called complaining the FBI was at their doorstep interrogating them at 8 am.

I am at a biglaw Firm. We are already looking into this for people we have given offers to to start next fall (currently interviewing for summer associates as well and cross listing our interview list with the published list on Twitter).

We will be rescinding offers. There is a list circulating with everyone’s names. It’s awful and has raised so many internal questions. Getting pressure from clients… Big large asset management firms about this. People are up in arms and want nothing to do with these imbeciles. It’s true we are realizing we’ve dodged a bullet And should never have extended offers to some of these folks

Another lawyer here. Yes there’s an email going around our firm about this.

Ok, cool. And there may be valid reasons for this. But just recognize the Pandora's Box you're opening. All you people complaining about posters who won't hire people from Liberty U. Or who have "conservative" presences on SM. Etc. That should be fine, then, too, going forward.

I though America's outrage meter was broken with the last presidency.

I am perfectly fine with these students being blacklisted. I wouldn't want them working at my firm either.

I also think Trumpers should be blacklisted from certain jobs.

Agree with this. Makes common sense.

Sure, but the latter will not happen.

The one kid said: ""Israel bears full responsibility" for Hamas’ deadly attack in Israel." Lots of people have this view. Adults, included.
I'm not sure why that is outrageous or discriminatory to say. This is a complicated situation going back generations. That may not be a popular thing to hear on this thread but I've heard it expressed NUMEROUS times in the last several days.

But be careful with this sort of private firm McCarthyism as that may come back to bite you in the a$$ someday.

+1 and if this story gets national attention, there's another potential backlash among people who tend to believe that certain ethnicities are the real power brokers and string pullers. This will only confirm their beliefs.

You’re dead wrong. Trumpers have been blacklisted.
