It's probably racism but it also looked like the woman stopped to untangle the medals and may have inadvertently missed the girl. Since it happened 18 months ago, we are now retraumatizing the girl rather than helping her with our belated indignation.

She’s now receiving the acknowledgment she deserves and deserved in that moment. Showing her adults are willing to speak up and ensure mistreatment is stopped, is a plus.

On the other hand, it got the attention of Simone Biles, who contacted the girl to voice her support and was thrilling for her to hear from the GOAT herself. So.

Ireland has taken in a lot of refugees and other immigrants, including from Africa. And now they have a huge housing crisis and native Irish are leaving because they can’t afford a place to live. It’s a bit of a mess at the moment.

I can't tell if it was accidental or not from video but there is a point in the clip where you can see the young girl exhale that reads like a sigh of disappointment. Very sad. I hope the organization corrects this for her and I hope she is able to put this whole incident behind her.
