Have you ever traveled somewhere and absolutely fell in love with the place?

Salzburg is my love too. It has everything I want for living.... The right size of city with cobblestone streets. History. The castle and the surrounding Alps. Food, specially the little bakeries.... the chocolate. Mozart and his music. The culture. The little specialty stores. The beautiful buildings and parks... I wish I could make my husband motivated to move. And We also have one of the EU passport too. It wouldn't be so hard...

I have been to a LOT of places in the world and nowhere has ever just clicked so easily with my soul. I honestly feel like I'm homesick for Norway now that I'm back in the US which I've never felt before. The people, the nature, the culture, the parenting- everything just resonated with us.

This is so funny - I read the title of your thread and was just coming here to say the same thing. Norway is my "place," in every way.

Interesting all the love Norway is getting…one of the whitest countries on the planet. Hmm…

PP who loves Sanibel, I also really like Sanibel too. It holds a special place in my heart, it's where we did our babymoon some 24 years ago.

LOVE Charleston!

Every time I cross the bridge to mainland CC, my blood pressure normalizes. Thanks for ruining that Healy!

St. Thomas. Went there on vacation, came home and started looking for jobs. It felt like the best of both worlds: tropical paradise but still part of the US (for citizenship, social security, etc.). Did not move there but fantasized about it for a long time, so maybe it gave me an afterburn effect of vacation stress relief by continuing to think about it.

Maine. I visited in October and absolutely loved it, but I knew I would only want to live there from like May - October, not winters.

Certain areas of Bavaria and Austria. I told DH (born and raised in Germany) that I would relocate there any time. He loves it there, but his heart is in the Pfalz / Alsace area.

Also one of the wealthiest. North Sea oil helps.

Diversity isn’t all it’s made out to be. Most people want to live near people who are like them. Places with the most satisfied citizens are usually the most homogeneous.

I feel this way about thailand. DH and I went for 3 weeks for our honeymoon and travelled around. I fell in love so hard! The food, the people, the beauty were all so amazing. My mom and her husband are travelling there in a few weeks and I'm so excited (and jealous!) for them. I really hope they love it as much as I did.

Yup. Mine is Thailand. I lived there for six years and plan to go back!

6 years! How did you manage that?

I want to look at retiring there... the $$ goes so far.

I came back from Italy and didn't eat well for the next few weeks here. I really have a profound love of the Italian lifestyle aka W European/Mediterranean lifestyle but particularly as it relates to dining. I just looked at our food options here and wanted to cry. It's not just the offerings but the quality of food, simplicity of recipes, and culture of dining.

I have really come to the conclusion that the American way isn't all for me. Sadly I have a family and can't uproot. Although, DD as she is traveling with us and getting older is arriving at the same conclusion. Both my kids do really well when we are out of the country in eating more and really happy moods.

I would say within the US, I fell in love with Wyoming. I count myself as a city girl but I really loved the beauty and serenity of the west. Always for me, a love of the west as I get older and older. When I was young I really embraced E coast however.

I don't think it's easy for Americans to move to Norway, unless you have Norwegian parentage.

Another vote for Norway! Spent several days in Bergen and Gudvangen this summer since my husband was interested and I was agnostic. FELL IN LOVE and can't wait to return to see more!
