Oh, I just posted that I felt this way about Sweden, but agree with this as well. Something about the pace of life and the scale of the city is very approachable. I remember DH and I wound up talking with a guy in a bar who had moved there relatively recently from NYC, and we walked away from the conversation talking about how maybe we should move there. It doesn't work with our jobs but we've talked about retiring there if the area doesn't get to expensive and if climate issues don't cross it off. It's a great small city. |
| I felt this way about DC when I first came here. |
Yes! Mountains. Specifically Colorado or Alaska. I just feel at peace and I feel like myself in these places. I'm from NYC, live in DC...I consider myself a city girl. But when I'm in the mountains there's this whole other side of me. I wish I had more outdoorsy know-how - I would absolutely move to the middle of nowhere, or at least get a second home. |
| Another city girl here and really enjoy DC but I fell in love with Burlington Vermont. Also a POC and felt extremely safe and welcomed. My second place is Chang Mai Thailand. Another place I felt welcomed and respected. |
Yes! But now after Ian, it's like watching a loved one with an irreversible disfiguring disease. It will never be the same. |
| A trip to Alaska had me questioning my life choices. I would love to live there in the summers. |
| I went to Martha’s Vineyard every summer as a kid (so, 30 years ago) and felt this way about there. Sadly I’m sure I’d feel differently if I went today |

I've never been to norway or sweden, adding them to the bucket list for sure now!
I feel this way about thailand. DH and I went for 3 weeks for our honeymoon and travelled around. I fell in love so hard! The food, the people, the beauty were all so amazing. My mom and her husband are travelling there in a few weeks and I'm so excited (and jealous!) for them. I really hope they love it as much as I did. |
| I fell in love with Alaska 20 years ago on my first trip there. Been back dozens of times and hope to retire there. |
I felt this was about Switzerland, particularly the Bernese Oberland area. I can't wait to go back and explore more. I talk about Switzerland an annoying amount at home!
|
| That was how I felt when we went to Amsterdam! The city is beautiful, and people are so friendly and healthy! I remembered coming home and looking for jobs in Amsterdam! |
| India. Despite massive culture shock, I felt like I was home. |
I can’t bring myself to go back. Maybe in a few more years. |
| I felt this way about Galway in Ireland - just something about it! |
|
Pretty much anywhere I go now. But I live in Texas
