Cape Cod is most popular among New Englanders. New England is different than NY/NJ. Not a huge number of South Asians in that area. |
Ha! Fellow BD here. I don't think they forgot
Cape Cod seems is bland. Desis, even wealthy ones!, like flavor and lively cultures/experiences. |

Lol stumbled here and my keyword wasn’t even remotely related to this thread. The Pakistani OP what is your idea of wealth? What’s your NW? May differ from DCUM.
Haha Cape Cod is where you were expecting desis?! The kind of desis you are looking for are more to be found in California. |
Objectively, OBX has less crime than Murder Beach. But OBX's beaches have more safety issues (rip tides etc). |

My next vacation (in February) is skiing in the Alps - the French side. I will probably do a European vacation in the summer and Argentina in the fall/winter.
My 2023 vacations were Japan, Thailand, Mexico City, and Paris. I did a few long weekends domestically but they weren’t really vacations. Maybe stereotypically, I’m not a beach person. I wouldn’t choose to spend a week at Cape Cod. My parents (UMC Indian immigrants) would take us to Europe for most vacations and I’ve continued that as an adult. Their last vacation was to southern Spain and Morocco. |

Based on photos of family friends - first gen kids raised here who are professionals (Doctors, lawyers, MBAs) take European/Asian city vacations.
Based on what I’ve seen when traveling, immigrants with younger kids go to National/State Parks and cruises. Often in groups of similar aged nuclear families, but I don’t think they are “wealthy” wealthy. Just comfortably middle-class. My only friends who do the week long OBX/Cape beach vacays are ones who grew up UMC in the Mid-Atlantic/Northeast. I find them mind numbingly boring and too much work. |
PP here - these are all white friends - my Indian friends do go on beach vacations, but usually Hawaii or Caribbean at a resort. |
| Was in Northern Michigan over the summer and there was a substantial number of Indian Americans at Sleeping Bear Dunes, Mackinac, and Pictured Rocks. It was never like that before. |
| We don’t beach because we don’t like to tan. |
| Husband is Bangladeshi and his family goes to Bangladesh or the Middle East. South Asians who are Muslim tend to like the Middle East more because they may do a religious pilgrimage. Trips to visit Asia are very expensive so a lot of middle-class families don't vacation as much anywhere else. A lot of our neighbors mainly take trips to Asia or a relative's house if they live in Europe. Weekend trips a few hours away are also popular. When living in the South some of the wealthier families had jet skis and would do that a lot. |

If wealthy, we do big bucket list type trips (Galapagos; Greece; Egypt/Nile; safari; Maldives and Jaipur/Jodhpur)…..
That’s my Desi family though. |
| What Desi means? |
I used to teach swim lessons in a wealthy area in New Jersey and it seems like a decent amount of South Asians don’t know how to swim. |
| I see them in the Cali or Texas coast at beaches not so much when I’m in Florida and also when I was in the upper north east I didn’t see a single south or East Asian person the whole time until I got to Jersey. Also they like Mexico and Vegas. Hope you find your tribe or hook ups Op! |
