It’s not a major holiday. Open Houses is on Columbus/Indigenous Peoples Day which is actually a REAL major holiday and parents still attend. Imagine that! Anyhoo, I’m off that day and will be there with bells on.

I’m defining it as being far more significant than the “holiday” OP is complaining about. Like someone said, just take the month of September off and be done with it.


The major holidays for most are the ones you’ve heard of. Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Passover. (Not Hanukkah, religiously). Sukkot and Purim are next but most people don’t observe them so strictly that they couldn’t take 2 hours for BTSN. It’s not ideal but it’s not a big deal. Holding it on Erev Rosh Hashanah, Kol Nidre, or the first two nights of Passover would be a big deal. This just is not.
