Is this typical BTSN

Scheduling BTSN on a Friday and a major religious holiday?

Not ok at all.

Wow. It’s hard to believe this was approved by admin or central office

What a stupid (and disrespectful ) time for back to school night. Hopefully the Resnik community has complained !

This has to be a typo I thought only Tue/Wed/Thu were allowed for BTSN

They should obviously reschedule it. Big error.

I think this caught non-jewish people by surprise as typically at this point admin/teachers know there are two days off, one for RH and one for YK, but since the RH day falls on saturday, there was no off day for them to realize "oh, we can't have it before then". Simply a case of not thinking more than anything malicious.

No surprise. It is a Friday. That is always the start of Jewish sabbath. Principal is well aware of holiday and said deal with it.

Ironic that the school is named after a Jewish astronaut! Great optics.

Holiday or no holiday I have never seen BTSN or any official school event at our elem or MS on a Friday evening. It's always on a T/W/Th. The exception is the PTA sponsored back to school social which is usually on the Friday the week after labor day (and not a religious holiday).

+1 Most people here are not Jewish, so calm down and see if you can get it rescheduled.

That's just disrespectful. It's one thing to make a scheduling error. It's another to have it pointed out to you and say too bad.

My understanding is that no after school activities are permitted that evening.

Is there a high population of Jewish people at that school?
